Chapter One

Haley reveled in the shouts and whistles coming from the audience. She showed off her cat costume, acted the part, playing with the toys Gregory, her handler, offered her, and made sure that the judge for the contest, Lady Corneille Noir, got all the choice views. The three-piece band tried to keep up with her, and she did her best to make it a challenge for them.
Margot was right; this is fun
. Gregory ran his big hand down her back. She arched for him, winking at the crowd. Then she stuck out her ass and shook her tail. The bell on her collar and those tied to her tail with ribbons jingled, adding to the glorious cacophony.

But something didn’t feel quite right. Something was missing.

As Haley batted at a feather-ended cane Gregory dangled in front of her, she scanned the audience.

Oh no
. She saw him: Jason, her other dom, the one who didn’t do any of this kind of stuff—the hard-edged, whips-and-handcuffs one.

Haley froze, and the audience seemed to recede, shrinking away as Jason’s face took her full attention. She hadn’t expected him to come. She didn’t want him here. He couldn’t know about…Gregory. She looked back at the other, bigger man. How would she explain this to him? What would he do to her? A slight frown crossed his face, and he tried to recapture her attention with the toy he held, but she couldn’t become reabsorbed in the play. She swallowed. Heat bathed her. She thought for a moment about all those in the audience watching her, but she couldn’t even pull herself together for them. Her concentration had broken, and now fear dominated.

Her men would find out about what she’d done to them. Tonight. She hadn’t prepared herself for that.

Finally Lady Corneille—dressed as a ringmaster in purple and gold vinyl—ushered them off the stage. “Haley Cat and her handler, Gregory, everyone!”

Applause followed Haley as she took the steps down to the auditorium floor. Her legs felt weak, and she had to grasp the handrail as she descended. What would she say to him?
Which him
? To them?

This could go so badly.

Without asking or even waiting for permission, she headed to the back of the hall. Vaguely she heard the next kittengirl’s introduction, but Haley’s world had shrunk down to the situation that had just arisen.

Her two doms were here.

Her good thing would come to an end. She should have expected it, really. She’d played with fire, letting herself get wrapped up in two relationships. But for her, it was all about the experience of giving herself to the men. She hadn’t even cultivated real boyfriend/girlfriend type interactions with them. Sometimes they ate together; then they played.

At the makeshift bar in the back, she took a vodka cranberry from Sig, the bartender and a friend of hers, and drank half of it down quickly, leaning against the red walls. Gregory got a beer from Sig and stuffed his other hand into the pocket of his trousers. He looked far too relaxed. Hadn’t he been able to tell whom she’d focused on in the crowd? Didn’t he feel her panic?

“What happened there at the end?” he asked. “You froze up.”

Haley didn’t answer right away. She didn’t know what to say. Maybe there was a chance to get out of here without—

The sight of Jason pushing his way through the crowd toward her tied her tongue. How could she explain any of this? She finally inhaled. “That happened,” she said, indicating the approaching man with a thrust of her chin. She glanced sideways at Gregory, who took a long sip of his beer.

“Who’s that?” he asked after he swallowed. Haley cringed at the lack of suspicion in his voice. Of course Gregory wouldn’t suspect her of being with anyone else. He was too confident and sure of himself. She hoped this wouldn’t break him.

It took Haley a few more drinks of her cocktail before she could answer. By then, Jason stood right in front of her, nearly toe-to-toe. His normally pale skin appeared flushed with anger or heat or something else she couldn’t identify. His gaze burned into her. She could tell he knew exactly what was going on. He’d seen her onstage, after all, strutting for the audience. He’d never shown her off like that. Play was between them, he thought. If he didn’t like to share her that way, she supposed he really didn’t like to share her—she glanced at Gregory—this way either.

She took one more drink, swallowed it carefully, and said, “Gregory, meet Jason. Jason, Gregory. Y’all are my two doms.”

She waited for something—
anything
—from either of them, but all they did was stand there, staring at her.

The crowd erupted with applause as another kittengirl entered or exited the stage for the costume contest. Haley had lost track. She looked into her cup. Empty. She glanced at Sig, but he was serving someone else and could offer no immediate help. She looked at Gregory and then at Jason.

She sighed, then did her best not to buckle under the gaze of the two men now confronting her. Really, she only had herself to blame. She’d never thought she was one for exclusiveness. It had never occurred to her that these two men both considered her “his.” She’d never bothered to hide it, but oddly it had never come up with either of them. But now it seemed clear that they both wanted her, and she’d blown it…with both of them. Her cheeks started to burn.

She set her glass down on the bar. She placed her feet a comfortable distance apart. She prepared herself for a confrontation. Gregory stood now, his beer gone, striking his palm with the toy he’d used to tease her earlier. The image reminded her of a Soviet agent ready to flog information out of some captured spy.

Jason stood with his arms folded, that same look in his eye he always gave her when she’d done something very, very wrong. Usually he’d reprimand her with a spanking and a round of cock sucking, but she could tell that’s not what he wanted tonight.

Haley swallowed, found her throat unbearably dry, and scanned the crowd, trying to seek out some help. She saw Margot, but the other kittengirl was lip-locked with her new master, completely oblivious to what was going on around her. His hands gripped Margot’s bare ass, forming divots in the soft flesh that Haley could see from here.

She could not catch anyone’s eye to beg for help.
Am I invisible to everyone but these two
? Haley looked back at the two men and offered them a shaky smile.

What am I going to say?

She sighed again.

“Okay, this is what happened,” she started. Her gaze flicked back and forth between them. Then she lowered her eyes. She explained everything. The time line of the relationships, the planning for the cat show they were currently attending, the expectation that Jason would most likely stay away because he’d never shown an interest in pony play or any other animal play, and why she’d chosen Gregory for tonight.

They didn’t seem happy with the explanation.

“I’m sorry. Between the two of you, I feel like I have everything I need. Enough time, enough variety… I can’t see myself with just one of you. With the both of you, together, I’m happier than I have been in a long time. You can even ask Margot. But I should have told you both what was going on.” If anything, they seemed angrier. Well, too bad, she decided. She raised her chin, first a little to look at Jason, and then a lot to look at Gregory. There was no one or the other. “I want both of you. Do you understand?” She wouldn’t feel cowed or ashamed by this.

“I don’t blame her for this,” Jason said quietly. To Haley, it looked as if Jason tried to flay open Gregory’s face with the strength of his gaze. She knew she would wilt if he looked at her that way, but Gregory took it.

“I don’t either,” Gregory told him. Gregory crossed his arms, a sure sign he’d decided on a confrontation.

“Then at least we can agree on that.”

And they just stood there, staring at one another.

Haley swallowed. That was not the reaction she’d expected. Gregory and Jason focused on each other now, seeming to forget she even stood there. Tension surged between them, palpable even to Haley. They directed none of their ire at her; it was all for the other man. She’d expected epithets hurled at her, blame pushed on her head. After all, she’d been the one to mislead the two men. Both of them were innocent in all this.

Jason turned slightly, and Haley could tell by the stance of his body that he was ready for a confrontation with the larger man.

Gregory took a step back and raised his hands. “We can work this out somehow, I’m sure, if she’ll have either of us after tonight.”

Why wouldn’t she want either of them? Wasn’t it clear?
Wait
. “What?” Haley asked. “There’s no either—”

“Work something out?” Jason harrumphed and shook his head. “What’s to work out? I want her for myself.”

Gregory nodded. “So do I, but I’m willing to negotiate.”
