Ella smiled, then wrapped her arms around her. “Thanks, Ava, I knew you would understand.” She stepped back. “And I’m so excited about the wedding. You are going to have the best bachelorette party ever.”

Ava tried to suppress a smile. As she moved back to Lucas’s side, Ella ran ahead. “I’ll meet you guys back at the house.”

Lucas came to her side. “What was that all about?”

Ava laughed. “I’ll fill you in later. That one has always had a mind of her own.”

Lucas’s laughter filled the air. “And you don’t?”

Her mouth dropped open and she scowled. “No, not like that. Okay, well, maybe.” As she took hold of Lucas’s hand she became lost in thought. If even one thing had been different, maybe none of them would be here tonight. “I don’t know what I would have done if I had lost—”

“Don’t. We are together and that’s all that matters,” he said, as he led her up the path.

She nodded, knowing he was right. They were all together, happy and safe. That was definitely all that mattered. She sighed, contentment washing over her as Lucas took her hand and they strolled back to the house.

“I can’t wait to call Belinda and tell her the good news.”

He smiled. “I have been meaning to call Aiden as well. There are some things we have to discuss.”

“Like what?” She turned in his arms.

“I think it’s time I took my rightful place by his side. Help him lead our clan. Whether the clan moves here or I keep in contact through Internet Skype, we will find a way to work it so I’m more involved.”

“Oh, Lucas, I think that’s a wonderful idea. I can’t wait to meet your family. Do you think they will come out for the wedding?”

“Absolutely. Aiden would never miss my wedding.”

“So, when are we getting hitched?”

“I think fall in the Adirondacks is beautiful and would make the perfect backdrop to our wedding,” he said as they entered the foyer of the house.

Ava’s eyebrows arched. “Lucas, the fall is only a few months away. Do you think we can put a wedding together that quickly?”

Laughter from the kitchen filled his ears. His once lonely house was now full of lovely women. “I have no doubt with everyone participating that we can put a wedding together in a few short months.”

She shook her head. “I don’t doubt it, either,” she said as she leaned in for a kiss. Her soft lips met his, stoking his fire. Her backside moved over his hard length, filling him with desire. She must have felt his need for suddenly she jerked back. “Lucas!”

“What? Can’t a man want his fiancée?”

“Not before the wedding.”

“Wait just a minute—”

A smile traced her lips as she headed for the staircase. “It’s tradition, Lucas.”

A growl escaped his lips. “We’ll just see about that,” he said, chasing after her. She raced up the stairs, but he was faster.

She let out a playful scream as he took her into his arms. He carried her up the rest of the stairs and laid her gently on the bed. “When could I ever deny you?”

“Get over here and make love to me,” she commanded.

“Yes, Ma’am.”
