American Heroes Series - 03 - Purgatory (56 page)

“I think she’s going to look like
me,” Elliot said softly.  “She’s got my nose.”

“She’s all you, darlin’. I’m not
really sure I really had anything to do with her.”

Elliot giggled, watching him
inhale the scent of their child. “Happy?” she asked.

He closed his eyes, pulling her
tighter. “Unbelievably happy.”

“Want to try for a boy next
year?”

His eyes flew open and she
laughed when she saw his reaction. “We’ve already got three,” he said.

She shrugged, looking back at the
infant in her arms. “I’d like to have a boy that looked like you.”

“I’d like to have another girl
that looked just like you.”

“So who gets their wish?”

Nash did. Catherine “Cate” Aury
was born thirteen months, four days, twenty-two hours and seventeen minutes
after big sister Sophie. Nash spent the next few years carrying around
book-end, blond-headed toddlers that were the most adorable creatures on the
planet as far as he was concerned. The place once called Purgatory saw a new
generation of Aurys grow up, love, and thrive.

Sophie MacGregor would have been
proud.
