Chasing Di'Maggio: a BWWM romance (10 page)

****

Matty was already worn out from waking up too early and now here was at the reception with everyone smiling, laughing, dancing, He was sitting back talking with his brothers, his brother-in-law, Tommy, and Mitch. They were all scoping out girls, but Matty couldn’t keep his eyes off Nicolette. She was dancing with her bridesmaids without a care in the world. Even in that big wedding dress, she could still move. He was glad he went through with this plan, even though in two days, they’d be back in Florida to start their new lives together. He’d left Nico’s to move into their empty house before the wedding. He was glad everything was furnished and they didn’t have to worry about any of that when they returned home.

“Matt? Earth to Matt!”

“Huh? What? What did you say, Mike?”

“Mitch was asking about Katie, your wife’s friend.”

“What about her?”

“Is she single, brother?”

Matty couldn’t help but roll his eyes at Mitch for calling him
brother
. When Mitch called Matty brother it meant he wanted something. Matty knew he had no choice but to find out about Katie or else Mitch would talk his ear off about her. He had to admit, Mitch did have good taste. Katie was a petite Caucasian woman, a bit older than Nico, and was striking in her bridesmaid gown. She was a redhead, a weakness for Mitch, and had sizable breasts with a really nice body. Matty shook his head at Mitch and his model-type women. “I’ll go find out before you chew my ear off.”

“Thanks! I knew you could do it.” Nicolette was having a blast at her reception. She was tired but she would never admit it to anyone. Katie, Roxy, Angie, and Mel were all dancing with her and having a great time. She was glad that her main friends were able to make it to the wedding. Although they were surprised, they attended without hesitation.

“Hey, Mrs. Di’Maggio, I think your husband is walking over here. My God, he looks good.”

Nicolette couldn’t help but shake her head at Angie for being so bold. She turned around and saw the way Matty was walking up to her, seduction dripping as he walked. She couldn’t control herself or her body; she got goosebumps and butterflies seemed to live inside her. Matty kept eye contact with Nicolette, making Nicolette want him even more. She couldn’t control her urges for him, and she’d been wanting him badly since that morning. She tried to maintain a certain facade when she had to kiss her husband at the ceremony; it was much harder than just letting herself go.

“Getting hot and heavy, somebody?”

Nicolette turned around and put her hand on her hip as she looked at her friend, Angie. She couldn’t keep a straight face so she started to smile.

“What are you talking about Angie? Please.” Nicolette tried to play it off as if she wasn’t fazed by what Angie was saying.

“Yeah, you want him to please you, huh?”

“Oh my God, shut up, Angie. Here he comes. Hmmm Nicolette, you should’ve told me before, now I’m heartbroken that I was getting my hopes up.” Nicolette and her girls all looked at Roxy and couldn’t help but laugh. She just had to make things funnier whenever they were all together.

“What the hell, Roxy?” Nicolette couldn’t help but laugh at her friends. They were the weirdest, funniest, not-right-in-the-head friends she’d ever had, but they made everything complete for her. They each were very similar, even the silly things they did or said.

She turned to face her friends to see if they were serious and she couldn’t help but burst out into laughter. As she was laughing, Matty laid his hand on her shoulder and that simple gesture sent tingles up and down her spine.

“Hey girls, can I steal my wife away for a second?”

“Oh, sure thing, hubby. Go ahead,” Angie said.

He smiled graciously, “Thank you.”

“Matty meet Angelica Henderson, Katelynn Mercer, and Melinda Wyatt. You’ve met Roxy.”

“Oh yeah, nice to meet you all, ladies. Hope to see you guys around a lot more.”

“Of course you will. Just call me Angie.”

“Yeah, nice to meet you and you can call me Katie.”

“Nice to meet you too, Melinda or Mel is fine with me. You will be seeing us since we have our Saturday nights together. Now that Ms. Thing here lives closer to us, she won’t have an excuse not to come.”

“Ugh guys, we’ll discuss this later,” Nico told her friends. “Come Matty.”

“It was nice meeting you all.” Matty seemed to like Nicolette’s friends. They were so upfront with their flirting and it was entertaining for him. They all were physically different. Angie and Melinda were as short as Nicolette, but Angie had caramel skin with olive-shaped eyes, hazel-brown eyes, a bob haircut, and very curvaceous body. She was the type that made you take a double take. Melinda on the other hand was Hispanic. She still had her accent and small breasts with a tiny waist but a big behind like Angie. She had long, blonde hair and was very tan.

Matty took Nicolette inside the villa away from everyone who was outside in the tent and sat her down on the kitchen island. He couldn’t help but smile at how small she looked in her big dress as she sat on the kitchen island.

“So.”

“So??... I thought you had something to say, Matty?”

“I do but first I have to say… I don’t know if you realize this, but we didn’t use protection.”

“I know. I’m on the pill, if you needed to know that badly.”

“Why?”

“Because I’ve had complications. Are we done here?”

“Why are you so feisty? I think I can tame you, don’t you think so, Nico?”

She blushed. “I have nothing to say.”

“Give me a kiss, baby.”

“Matty, I... I think we should go outside.” Nicolette didn’t know what to do; her legs were outside Matty’s body as she sat on top of the kitchen island. Matty didn’t understand what he was doing to her. She would do anything for him right now but she also didn’t want to give in. Playing hard to get would be so much harder for her now. She didn’t know what to do. Matty was turning her on. He had his hands on each side of her, and Nicolette thought he looked so handsome with his hair swept back by a hair band. She remembered how much he hated it, but for some reason but she found it very appealing. He was putting her hormones on overdrive the way he was looking at her, the intensity in his eyes making her melt by each second. Abruptly, Matty grabbed Nicolette by the waist, pulled her closer to him and started kissing her. She felt like she was floating. The noise in the background disappeared and it was just the two of them in the villa. All she heard was her own heart beating faster than anything else in the world… Finally, after what felt like the longest time, Matty let her go.

“Matty, you’re going to have to stop kissing me like that.” Nicolette needed Matty to stop kissing her like that because each time it made her feel a way she couldn’t describe.

“Baby, I plan on kissing you like that for a while, and you like it.” He kissed her again so that she could answer him honestly. He knew she was shy about their current situation but he wanted to hear her say it.

“Yes.”

“Yes what?”

“Yes, I like it.”

“I know I was supposed to ask you to hook your friend up with Mitch, but right now I just want to get out of here and be with you all night long.”

“All night?” Nicolette thought about this morning and how great it was but she was still sore and she wasn’t sure she could handle him even if she did want to try.

“Yes, babe. How long did you think I could last?”

“But this morning?”

“This morning... I was holding back for your own good. I won’t hurt you, and I won’t do anything until you’re ready. Baby steps, okay?” Nicolette was thinking about what to say and if she agreed with what he was saying. She didn’t understand why Matty was watching her like that but for him, she looked so cute with her pouty lips, her eyebrows furrowed, and tapping her finger on her lip. He kissed her furrowed eyebrows, she became a bit more relaxed, and as she closed her eyes she said, “Okay.”

“Did you like it this morning?”

Nicolette stared at Matty. He was so close to her. His lips were inches away from hers and she just wanted to kiss him. She didn’t know how to answer the question. She was way too shy to answer anyway. But Matty knew how to coax that answer out of Nicolette, so he started to kiss her again, this time deepening the kiss, making her feel lightheaded. Nicolette almost whimpered when he suddenly stopped kissing her.

“You didn’t answer me.”

“Answer what?”

“Did you like it this morning?”

“I… I loved it.”

“That’s what I like to hear.”

Matty really just wanted to take his bride away from everyone, but he knew people would look for them. It wouldn’t be right to escape your own wedding, but he wanted to be alone with Nicolette.

“Can you please help me down? This dress is huge and I’m afraid I’ll fall over.”

Matty started to laugh. “You can always take it off.”

“Real funny. Help me down.”

“But I’m serious about taking it off.”

“Whatever.”

Nicolette didn’t know what game Matty was playing, but she didn’t want to play. She knew her heart was going to be broken when it was time to call it quits. She didn’t want to get used to him, the man she’d loved all her life, the man who made love to her, the man who made her heart skip a beat... Oh God, what was she going to do?

She thought about every possibility… She quickly glanced at the door and considered running for it in her wedding gown, getting as far away from here as she could, with the only thing she had left: her sanity. Matty had taken her heart a long time ago.

He grabbed her by the chin and turned her head to face him. She stared into his eyes and she felt like he knew everything. It was too much for her. She was really in for it this time.

“Nic? Nic?” Gabe could be heard calling for Nico. His voice was rapidly approaching the kitchen. “Where are you?”

Thank God for her best friend, Gabe. Nico didn’t know how she was going to get out of Matty’s grasp. He was starting to see right through her and that piercing look he gave her was making her melt right into his arms. But what would she do when Gabe wasn’t there to interrupt or rescue her? Nicolette didn’t know whether she was mad at him or happy with him.

Nico smiled at Gabe once he appeared in the doorway. “Yes? You rang?”

“Yes, Mrs. Di’Maggio, you owe me a dance.”

Nicolette couldn’t help but smile at her best friend and brother-in-law. He knew that she’d waited forever to be called Mrs. Di’Maggio and was glad that she got the experience of it, even if it was temporary

“Okay,” she told Gabe. “But can you get me off this thing? Matty refuses to. I don’t want to do it myself or else I’ll fall.”

“Yes, m’lady.”

Matty saw the bond they had with each other and finally understood it. He understood how they were so similar and how his baby brother and his new wife, who he secretly loved so much, were like siblings. He watched as Gabriel grabbed Nico by the waist and picked her up, spinning around with her in the air. He didn’t feel any envy with them; he saw the love they had for each other, the family love that he knew Gabriel didn’t really get from Mike and him because they’d left him behind to do their own thing. The way Nicolette laughed with Gabriel made him happy because his grandma had brought them two together, even if it wasn’t the best situation ever.

“Yo’ homie, put me down, you’re embarrassing me in front of my hubby over there.”

Both Matty and Gabe couldn’t help but chuckle at Nicolette. She was something else for sure.

“Come on, let’s go dance, Nic Nic.”

“Eww, you haven’t called me that since we were kids. Jerk!”

Gabriel couldn’t help but laugh. She really was one of the few people that made him laugh just cause. He was happy that they were in-laws and finally she was able to be around Matty, her number-one love. Gabriel decided that day that he was going to get them to confess their love for each other before it was too late.

Nicolette couldn’t be any happier than she was that day. She and Gabriel danced to her favorite song by Ed Sheeran,
Kiss Me
. The song touched Nicolette to the core. As she was resting her chin on Gabriel’s shoulder, something made her open her eyes and found Matty’s eyes on her. The look in Matty’s eyes made her feel comforted and appreciated. She felt as if maybe, just maybe, they could have a future. She wanted him to really love her.

“What are you so deep in thought about?”

Nicolette tore her gaze away from Matty and faced Gabriel.

“Dude, I’m just thinking how do I get that man over there to actually be mine? Like make him fall head over heels in love with me. God, I’m tired of waiting on that.” Nicolette chuckled. “I’m just tired of being alone and I want to be with the man who took my heart, that bastard.”

Gabriel couldn’t help but laugh, throwing his head back. He found Nicolette so funny. Yes, his brother was a bastard for not letting this little lady know how he really felt. He just hoped Matty realized before it was too late. Gabriel spun Nicolette as the song came to an end.

“You deserve to be happy and soon enough, my dear sister-in-law, that bastard will be more in love with you than anything else. That I can promise you.”
