Dominic (7 page)

I growled. "I'm serious, it's just the material. Like I would ever be turned on by the likes of you. You aren't me type."

Dominic pulled back a little and drew his eyebrows together. "I'm
everyone's
type."

I scoffed. "Not mine, now back the fuck away."

He did, but with a grin on his face.

It was only then that I realised he had my school bag in his hand; I blinked.

How the hell did he take the straps off my shoulder without me noticing?

He got close to me to distract me so he could get my bag, the bastard!

"Give it back!" I snarled.

He smiled. "I will… after I look through it."

Before I could move forward and grab the bag or even warn him not to look into it, he stuck his hand inside the bag, rooted around, then pulled out a small box of thumb tacks. An open box of thirty thumb tacks that were missing ten tacks.

"I knew it," he hissed.

I swallowed. "That proves nothin', lots of people have thumbs tacks in their school bags-"

"You're seriously trying to convince me you aren't to blame when I have the evidence in my hand?"

I grunted; he had me on that. "Fine, whatever, it was me."

He growled again.

I threw my hands up in front of me. "It was payback for sayin' me arse is fat."

He just looked at me like I was ten kinds of stupid. "Your ass
is
phat."

I flushed, he just didn't fucking get it.

"Whether it's fat or not, you don't say it to me. It's a horrible thing to say to a person!"

Dominic rubbed his temples, like our arguing was giving him a bad headache. "I told you two weeks ago in the grocery store that when I say you have a phat ass, I mean it in the best fucking way possible."

I groaned, not understanding his logic. "This here is Ireland, buddy, fat
just
means fat here!"

He shook his head and glanced at my bag before tossing it back to me, I caught it then closed it up.

"Can I have me thumb tacks back?"

"Nope."

I glared at the thieving bastard. "Fine, whatever, keep them. I didn't want them anyway."

He leaned back against the wall across from me but winced when his arse rested against the wall. I tried to hide a smirk but failed miserably.

"You know I'm going to get you back for this, right?"

I widened my eyes, which made him snicker.

"Seriously? But I'm not good at pranks, it took me a whole week to think up the thumb tacks!"

"I'm not good at pranks either, but that's not how I'll be getting you back."

What?

"Are you goin' to hurt me or somethin'?"

Dominic just smiled at me, which freaked me out.

"No, I won't hurt you. I might just up my ante in bugging you since it clearly gets to you."

Oh, my God!

"I'll stab you in the eye with a pen if you annoy me more than you already do, I swear I will!" I warned him.

Dominic smirked. "I'm not worried, pretty girl, I think I can hold my own against you."

Fuck, he was right. He was bigger than me and clearly stronger. I didn't stand much of a chance against him if I were to try and hurt him, and we both knew it.

"I'll tell on you!" I warned him.

He full-on laughed then. "I like you, pretty girl."

He liked that he made me miserable, the bastard.

"
Stop
callin' me that!"

"Why?"

Really? Was he actually asking me that?

"Because I don't like it!"

Dominic smiled at me. "Which is exactly why I call you that. Plus it suits you."

I hated that I flushed. "Shut up!"

I turned away from him while he chuckled. "Come on, you have to know that you're pretty."

The cunt was teasing me now!

"Drop it, Dominic," I growled, my back still to him.

My breath left my body when he put his arms around my waist and stroked my sides with his thumbs. I felt his breath on my ear, and the sensation I felt caused my eyes to drift closed. I really wanted to shove him away from me, but I just couldn't move. I felt like I was stuck.

"I don't think you know just how pretty you are, Bronagh," Dominic purred in my ear. "You're different from every other girl in this school. You aren't in the same league as them. You're in one of your own."

I snapped my eyes open.

This school had a lot of gorgeous girls and for him to say that I couldn't even compete in the same league with them hurt, and I didn't know why, but it did. I moved away from him as the bell rang out, and the classroom door opened. Our classmates piled out of the room, nearly all of them greeting Dominic or slapping their hand against his as they passed him by. Damien stopped by his brother and said something, making him laugh, before moving on.

I kept my eyes glued on the floor during all of this, and I kept them aimed downwards when Miss McKesson stepped out into the hallway and stood in front of us.

"I never want a repeat of what happened in my class earlier on, do you both understand me?
Never
! The things that came out of your mouths were disgustin', and if you ever react like that to one another or anybody again I will suspend you. Do you both understand me?"

"Yes, miss," Dominic and I replied in unison.

"I'm not goin' to ask what riled you both up so much because it's over now, and I hope you have both learned your lesson not to treat each other so badly or call each other such mean names. Do I need to give you both detention to drive me point home?" Miss McKesson asked.

"No, miss," we again replied in unison.

"Good, now get to class."

I moved away while the miss stopped Dominic and quietly asked, "Do you need to see the school nurse for your behind to have your wounds treated?"

Wounds?

They were tiny pin pricks for goodness sake, it's not like he just got back from war and was riddled with bullets!

I didn't say anything though, I instead tilted my head down and quickly moved away before I snickered a little at my thoughts.

"No, I'm fine miss," Dominic replied to the miss then walked in the same direction as me.

"You'll be sorry for this Bronagh,
very
sorry," his voice growled from behind me.

I sighed because I knew that he would follow through with his threat and make me sorry,
very
sorry.

"Shite, sorry, I wasn't watchin' where I was goin'," I gasped when I literally walked into somebody and knocked them over as I exited the school gates.

I was in a world of my own, replaying what Dominic had said to me this morning in my head. I felt sick over it all day, but felt even worse when I spotted whom I knocked over. It was Jason.

Fuck!

I reached down to help Jason to his feet. I might not like him, but I wasn't above helping someone when I was in the wrong.

He didn't want my help though, and slapped my hand away. I jumped back a little and snatched my hand away, cradling it with my other hand. His slap hurt my hand; it was stinging. But I jumped back more so in shock that he actually hit me rather than the pain I felt.

"You stupid fuckin' bitch,
look
what you did to me new runners! They're all scratched up!" Jason bellowed as he got to his feet; he started forward and grabbed hold of my arm making me tense up.

He pulled me forward making me stumble. "You're payin' for these, you ugly, fat cunt!" he growled.

I nodded my head frantically, feeling tears well up in my eyes. He had never been physical with me before; I was used to the name-calling, but him actually hurting me upset me a lot.

"I will, I'm so sorry," I blurted out.

I was terrified and also was seriously shocked. I couldn't believe he was manhandling me right now, especially in front of passing students.

Jason glared at me for a moment, his eyes scanning my face and landing on my mouth before grunting and shoving me away from him, which made me stumble backwards. I tensed up when I lost my footing; I prepared for my arse hitting the ground, but arms caught me instead.

I breathed in relief but then gasped when the person who caught me, rounded on me. I didn't even hide my surprise and widened my eyes to the point that they stung me.

"
Dominic
?" I said, staring at his grey eyes which were narrowed and slightly twitched.

He looked furious.

"Are you okay?" he asked me, looking at my cheeks.

It was only then that I felt the fat tears from before stream down my cheeks; I quickly wiped them away and nodded my eyes. The hiccup and fresh tears that followed proved me a liar though.

Dominic set his jaw as he looked at my face. "Step back and then
don't
move a muscle," he said to me; his voice sounded deeper than usual, and it freaked me out a little.

I did as he asked without question, for once, then I watched in confusion as he handed me his school bag from off his back and turned his back to me. When he started towards Jason, my stomach flip flopped.

He wasn't going to do what I thought he was, was he?

"Can you believe that cunt, man?" Jason asked Dominic, chuckling.

Dominic didn't say a word as he swung his fist and it connected with Jason's jaw. Jason's face snapped to the side, he was still for a moment before he realised what was happening and then suddenly speared Dominic to the ground. I heard myself scream when I heard the thud of Dominic's back hitting the ground.

I even tried to move towards the lads to stop the fight, but an arm around my waist held me in place.

"Don't interfere, it will only make him angrier, because he told you not to move."

I twisted my head around and seen Dominic's face only with blond hair framing it.

Damien.

"Damien, stop them!" I begged.

Damien smiled at me, and I was a little surprised that I noticed how different his smile was from Dominic's. He didn't have dimples whereas Dominic did. I was then pissed off at myself for noticing that and turned my head back towards the two eejits rolling around on the ground.

"Stop!" I shouted when Dominic's fist cracked into Jason's jaw making some girls who were observing the fight scream and gasp.

I winced, along with some others, when we heard a really high pitched scream.

"Stop. Oh, my God,
stop
!"

I looked and saw Jason's girlfriend, Micah, run from the school gates towards us at high speed.

This was going to be so bad. Once she found out that I was the reason the lads were fighting, she was going to kill me. She hated me as it was, thanks to Jason's attempt to kiss me last week at the kissing booth.

When Dominic landed another hit on Jason's face, some of Jason's friends who were standing back, and letting them go at it because it was a fair fight, suddenly stepped in to break it up. Jason got a decent punch on Dominic's jaw first though, and it made me wince.

When Jason's friends pulled them apart, I twisted out of Damien's hold and started forward.

"Dominic, stop!" I said when I noticed him trying to go for Jason again.

I put my body in front of him and placed a hand on his chest.

He was looking over my head with his eyes narrowed. When I touched him he looked down at me, and his face changed, it softened. I frowned when I spotted the cut on his eyebrow. It was starting to swell and blood was surrounding it.

"Please," was all I said and pressed on his chest in an effort to get him to back off.

I couldn't believe he fought Jason and to make matters worse, it was because of me.

"Come on, bro, you beat his ass. Nothing left to prove," Damien said as he landed a hand on Dominic's shoulder.

Dominic growled.

Yes, growled.

"He put his hand on what's mine, don't fucking tell me I don't have something to prove."

His?

What!?

What did
that
mean?

Seriously, what the fuck did that mean?!?

"Nico! What the fuck is your problem, man?" Jason's voice shouted from behind me, making me jump.

Dominic turned my body and carefully pushed me behind him.

"
My
problem? What the fuck is
yours
?" Dominic bellowed.

"Mine? What do you mean-"

"You fucking touched her!" Dominic roared, making me jump.

"Who?" Jason asked then laughed when I poked my head out from behind Dominic only to retreat back behind him. "Bronagh? You jumped on me because of that fat bitch?"

I dropped his bag and gripped onto Dominic's waist when he tried to dart forward. "Stop!" I screamed.

Dominic tried to shake me off him but, in doing so, his elbow hit off my cheekbone, making me hiss. Dominic didn't notice that he hit me, but Damien did.

"Dominic!" he roared.

Dominic snapped his head in Damien's direction.

"You're scaring her, bro."

Dominic growled as he turned and looked back to Jason and snarled. "Put a finger on her again, and I'll kill you. Call her names again, and I'll kill you. If you so much as look at her again, I'll fucking kill you. Understand, man?"

Jason shook his head at Dominic. "What fuckin' ever, man," he said then turned to Micah, who was fussing over his face and kissing him, which Jason's friends found amusing.
