Chapter Thirty Two

Two Days Later

Finally, after sitting in that pickup for endless hours and spending another night in a hotel we pull into the parking lot of our new home and shock runs through me.

“I thought you were getting another condo!” I exclaim.

“I wanted you to have your own home. One that you can feel safe in. Marcus helped me find this place,” he replies, nonchalantly.

“Eric… you are incredible!” I squeak with joy at the beautifully quaint home that sits in front of us. “It’s perfect!” I exclaim as tears build in the corners of my eyes making it hard for me to see.

“It’s nothing like the home you had, but it’s yours.”

I jump to his side of the truck, still cautious of my cuts, straddling him, pressing my lips to his. Kissing his cheeks, neck and back to his mouth. “I love you so much, Eric Sutherland. I don’t deserve you.”

He grabs my cheeks in his hands, our noses only inches apart. “You deserve the world, Stephanie Wilcox. Now, let’s go see the inside.”

I open his door with excitement, still sore from the stitches, so he helps me off his lap and places me on the driveway below. Hand in hand we walk up to the front door that leads to our new life. To my new life. He pulls out the key and swings open the heavy oak door.

We walk through the beautiful home. It’s cozy and warm and gives me a feeling that no home has ever given me before; welcoming. One that is filled with love and security. Standing in the center of the open living room I wrap my arms around his neck and he pulls me in by my hips. Our bodies pressed together as one.

“Thank you, Eric,” I whisper and he tilts his head to the side in confusion.

“For what?” he asks.

“For loving me,” I state and pull him in for a kiss.

“How could I not love you, Steph?” he whispers in my ear, trailing kisses up my neck and reaching my lips. He licks my bottom lip until I part my mouth, letting him take it in his. Reluctantly I pull back slightly.

“We should get our stuff inside. I still have a lot of things to sort out.”

He nods in understanding, releasing the grip he had around me. “You rest and I’ll grab our things. I don’t want you ripping any of those stiches out,” he instructs and I sigh in defeat.

The home is already fully furnished so I take to the large tan couch and lay down. I have so many things to get done and the first on my list is to get rid of the name Barnes and become Stephanie Wilcox again. I would love to take on Sutherland, but I know that would be too much to ask of Eric right now and too soon for me.

Once the few bags that we have are loaded into the house Eric takes a seat at the end of the couch placing my feet on his lap.

“What now?” I ask.

“Anything you want,” he moans as his hand sneaks up the middle of my thigh. Oh, how I will never get tired of this.

The End

About The Author

There are many versions of ME. I'm a wife of an amazingly supportive husband, a mother of three beautiful boys that inspire me every day, a friend, a dedicated worker always looking to succeed, an author with characters and stories always on my mind and then there is Me. The woman that loves to stay up late and sleep in, takes ten minutes every morning before the kids are up to sit and have a quiet cup of coffee. The woman that loves staying up late with a good book and getting lost in the words. Enjoying a glass of wine with dinner to wind down from my long days. A person who is still a girl at heart, loving to smile, laugh and have fun whenever the opportunity arises. My favorite place is the beach because nothing is more peaceful then listening to the sounds of the ocean against the shore. This is all a part of who I am and I LOVE being me!
