Gary leaned on the table, motioning to the lasagna. “It’s like evil in a dish.”
“Satan in saran wrap.” Roman nodded from behind her.
“Just thinking about it throws me into a deep depression,” Tony said.
“I have nightmares about it sometimes,” Angie admitted.
“It’s terrible, Zo.” Val was the last to cave, looking at Zoey with eyes that begged for forgiveness when she turned to face him. “Just terrible.”
Zoey saw the apology in Val’s eyes, in all of their eyes.
But none of them had anything to be sorry for.
It was honesty.
