Flynn, Joyee - My Feisty Kitten [Purrfect Mates 7] (Siren Publishing Ménage Amour ManLove) (16 page)

And that’s when the rocket launchers were set off.

Oh, my dads had to be having fun with that. Cord had showed them each how to use one, and they were up on the roof of our house in position. It was an awfully pretty show that would be doing a lot of damage to our poor yard. But hey, sod was easy to get in the area. And our people weren’t replaceable…the damn grass was.

The fairies were amazing. As soon as the fight started, my mate took to the sky and joined the rest of them. I couldn’t even imagine how hot it got in the midst of all their fire streams. And even better than having that weapon that wouldn’t get the wielder hurt with the Followers’ acid blood was the way they went up in flame. It was like setting dead, dry leaves ablaze…instant combustion.

There were just so many of them that it was taking the fairies a while to get all of them since they were working in teams. The rocket launcher helped though. My dads, or whomever, seemed to be reloading it because they were shooting Followers left and right. They must have set off ten rockets that sent the Followers everywhere like bowling pins.

When the dust settled we’d not only won, wiped them all out…not a single fucking person on our side was hurt. We had no casualties or losses. There were a few of the bad vamps dying, still trying to get away.

“You attacked the wrong people, fucker,” Imogen snarled as the fairies all started landing. We moved closer with hoses and fire extinguishers to put everything out. The wolves howled at our victory, and all around, we felt pretty damn good about our last-minute battle.

“If you—” The vamp on the ground sputtered around the blood he was choking on. “If you think this is over, you’re all fools. H–he will k–kill you all.”

“How many more of you are there?” Rafe asked as he stepped on the guy’s chest, digging in the wound.

“Thousands,” he answered in an evil laugh.

“That may be, but we took you all out no problem,” Avery snarled and then smiled viciously. His hand shifted into a claw. “And you’re taking your last breath, so I wouldn’t be so fucking cocky.”

Before any of us could move, he slashed down and tore out the guy’s throat. We all stood there and stared at his lifeless body, unable to react to what he’d told us.

“Could they really have thousands?” I asked aloud, breaking the silence. “How could we not know that we had an enemy that big out there?”

“I don’t know, but this wasn’t the war we fought today,” Conley said gravely as we all exchanged worried looks. “It was just the first wave.”

Chapter 10

“Okay, my parents are settled at Avery’s, the fairies, besides your guards, are back through the portal, the wolves are all home, and all the bodies are taken care of.” I plopped down on our bed and felt exhausted in a way I couldn’t put into words. “And I’m clean.”

“Putting together a last-minute army is definitely tiring.” Imogen chuckled and then yawned. “But I personally am planning to focus on how wonderful this feels.”

“What’s that, baby?” Aaron asked as he moved closer to my mate. I seconded that idea and snuggled on the other side of Imogen.

“Us. Here, in this bed. Together,” he whispered and then kissed each of us. “I’m not scared to have you here wrapped around me, and it feels so right to have both of you. I loved sleeping next to Sasha, and it was better than I’d ever felt with a lover. But something was always missing, and I just didn’t know what. Now I do.”

“Me?”

“Yeah, you, you big goof.” Imogen chuckled and pinched Aaron’s side. “We were missing part of our family.”

“I like that,” Aaron said with a sigh and snuggled against Imogen’s side. “Our own family. Maybe one day we could have babies like Avery, Ty, and Cord. I always wanted a baby.”

“Well, if you wouldn’t mind a baby that was a fairy, that can be arranged,” Imogen whispered so softly we barely heard him.

“Huh?” I asked, not sure what he was referring to.

“My uncle can arrange a surrogate, if we want, that’s helped the royal court before. As a prince of the fae, it’s actually part of my duty to produce an heir and continue the bloodline. But that doesn’t mean we have to.”

“I think that’s a wonderful idea,” Aaron said gently and kissed our mate.

“I couldn’t agree more, but I think we should wait until after the war that’s coming.”

“Yeah, not anytime soon,” Imogen agreed with a yawn. “I want many, many years for us before we start expanding our family. But we’ll have to look into surrogates for all of us. I want us to have a little vampire and a feisty kitten, too. We should have one of for each part of our mating. Because we’re not just a fairy couple or tiger couple. We’re all of us, and our children need to be as well.”

“Smart, sweet, and sexy,” I purred. “How did we ever get so lucky?”

“You followed the blue light.” He giggled and then rubbed suggestively against my body. “And I jumped you before you could get away, and you brought us to Aaron. Remind me to thank fate.”

“Now that I know we’re going to make it, I want to thank her, too.” Aaron gave us a soft smile, and I couldn’t have agreed more. We had a rough road ahead, but what relationship didn’t? Now that we were all on the same team, traveling on the same path, we’d figure the rest out. And if worse came to worst, and we had issues to resolve…we could always fuck each other silly until someone complied. We were three men. It seemed the healthy way to me.
