Guns n' Boys: Homicidal Instinct (Book 2) (gay dark mafia erotic romance) (7 page)

Seth brought the
steaming bowls of food to the bed and sat down next to Dom, beyond happy to see
him finally tucked in and resting. Only now that they had proper light could he
see how tired his boyfriend was. Knowing Dom, it could also be the lack of
imminent danger that allowed him to rest against the pillows with his eyes
closed. For a moment it looked as though he had fallen asleep within five
minutes of getting into bed, but his eyes shot open the moment Seth approached.

“I hope you’re hungry,”
Seth said with a smile and passed him the bowl. “It’ll warm you up as well.”

A smile Seth so craved
loomed on those perfect lips, and Domenico pulled himself up to eat
comfortably. “Like an alligator.”

They ate and shared a
few more silly jokes before it was time to sleep, and Seth had no idea how to lie
in bed next to Dom without being hugged by him. And in Dom’s state at the
moment, he was sure sleeping together would feel awkward as hell. He pushed off
his shoes, unsure how to approach the situation.

Domenico buried himself
under the two thick comforters they had found, facing Seth as if this was some
kind of sleepover. With the fire buzzing in the background, it seemed oddly
romantic, or maybe it was just Seth’s imagination.

“Hope no one comes over
in the early morning,” whispered Dom.

“Maybe I should just
stay up and keep watch…” Seth looked at the windows.

“Nah. I have the gun
under the pillow,” murmured Dom, his words turning into a yawn.

“I don’t know if that
makes me feel safe or scared.” Seth shook his head and took off his jacket. As
cold as the night was, the garment wouldn’t be comfortable in the same way
Dom’s coat was.

“I don’t know either.
Maybe I turn all psycho at night,” Domenico muttered.

Seth frowned and shook
his head. “So not funny.” He took a deep breath, sliding under the covers of a
bed that seemed all too small for both of them.

“No?”

“No. I know I should be
telling you you’re a nice guy, but truth is you
can
be a bit psycho.”
Seth tried to find a way to be under the comforter, not have his ass in the
cold air,
and
not touch Dom inappropriately. But of course, Dom being
Dom, there was no way they could stay away for too long. Seth shivered when
Domenico’s warm hand found his arm.

“What are you doing?
It’s freezing.”

“Jeez, I don’t want to
be awkward,” Seth groaned, putting his hand over his face.

Domenico chuckled and
pulled on him, smiling in the weak light. “What the fuck? We had a threesome.
And we’re brothers. Why would it be awkward?”

Seth took a deep breath
and turned around to mold his back into Dom’s embrace. Strangely enough, with
all the stress he’d been through, he wasn’t even horny. He just wanted to be
close, and the body behind him was so achingly familiar it made his eyes sting.
Domenico’s chest against his back, their hips molded together like pieces of a
puzzle. Domenico’s scent covered Seth like a warm blanket. Even if Seth was too
tired and cold now, he already missed Dom’s hard body pinning him down and
pushing the limits of what was comfortable.

Seth needed his Domenico
back so bad it hurt. He didn’t have any more tears yet, but despite his lack of
belief in God, he started praying in silence. He wanted Dom to remember him, to
know what they’d been through, to remember he loved Seth enough to risk his
whole life for their relationship. If there was a God, Seth would believe in
him if he could only get that back.

Please, prove you’re
out there. Bring his memory back.

Chapter 6

“Dom, hold still,” Seth
groaned and grabbed Dom’s chin to hold him in place. Approaching Dom’s face
with scissors was so stressful, Seth’s heart thudded in his chest. The wound
seemed to heal well, and since the swelling was down, it was about time to
remove the ugly blue stitches from Dom’s face. Unfortunately it wasn’t the most
beautiful sight, but Seth would never tell him that. Knowing Dom, he was
already thinking about it too much. There was a mirror in the bathroom, and
even though Seth would have liked to remove it, Domenico would probably
interpret it in the worst way possible. He could be so touchy about his looks.

“I
am
still,” Dom
said, moving his face again.

Seth sat closer,
watching the wound intensely and trying to find the best way to do it, but it
was high time. They’d been resting in this cabin for two weeks, and with Dom’s
leg getting better as well, Seth knew it was time to move soon. “Does it hurt?”

“Only when I stretch the
skin too much,” Dom muttered, gazing up at Seth with those intense eyes. It was
so strange to feel that gaze while knowing it was nothing but chaste. A lot of
disappointment came with that knowledge.

At least Dom trusted
him. He had to if he let Seth anywhere near his face with scissors. Seth
swallowed and pushed the sharp tip of the scissors under the thread.

Domenico stared straight
at him through the frame of the scissors. It was a dare, a game just like so
many they had played before. Shivers went down Seth’s spine, and the tightening
in his chest was like Dom’s hand clutching his heart.

What if Seth messed up?
What if he got it all wrong, and the wound on Dom’s face opened like a crack in
the ground, leading to the depths of hell? It would be exactly where Seth was
going if he messed up Dom’s beautiful face. Air caught in his throat when
Domenico spoke, making the thread pull on the scissors.

“Why so nervous? I’m not
gonna be a model anyway.”

Seth swallowed. “You
could have been,” he whispered and cut through the first bit of stitching.
There was an air of finality to the sound of the scissors clipping.

Dom’s eyes were so
bright and alert, and yet Seth could see a slight fog over their amber color.
“I could have. Too late for a change of career.”

“You could be a hand
model,” Seth suggested with a smile, but kept his hands steady as he slowly cut
through the rows of stitches. He’d die and kill for this man, and he sure as
hell didn’t want to hurt him further.

“My hands are shit,” Dom
said, and his fingers briefly danced over Seth’s free forearm. They were rough,
with calluses and weird fingertips. Seth remembered complaining about how they
felt, and it seemed like a lifetime ago. He’d never want different fingers all
over himself again.

“Oh. There’s that. You
told me you fucked up on a job when you were younger and had to get your
fingerprints messed up.” Seth fought the urge to kiss the bridge of Dom’s nose
when he was done with the stitches. He’d done an all right job, all things
considered. The scar was still red, twisted, and ugly, but even that couldn’t
erase Dom’s handsome features.

“Kinda hot.”

“I’d say so,” Seth said
with a snort. “This might hurt,” he warned before pulling out the first bit of
the stitching.

Dom closed his eyes,
patiently waiting for the whole process to end. His breath tickled Seth’s skin
in a completely inappropriate way. The last two weeks with Dom had been a
mixture of bonding, sweetness, and torture. In the most desperately arousing
moments, Seth would go out to chop wood for the fire, and take care of his own
wood.

Seth disinfected the
whole wound after he was done and got the gauze dressing from the side. “Done.”

“Thanks.” Domenico
blinked and leaned back in the sofa. “Do I look like a movie star now?”

Strangely enough, he kind
of did. With a cocky smile, a nice black shirt he’d found in the cabin owner’s
wardrobe, and his black hair long and sleek over his shoulders. “Yeah, like
Scarface.” Seth chuckled and poked Dom’s foot with his.

Dom didn’t smile.

Seth swallowed and
looked away. “In the confident mafioso kinda way,” he tried to backtrack on
what he’d said.

“Yeah, yeah. I just
don’t think that’s the look I was going for,” whispered Domenico, pulling on
the silky strands of his hair.

“What were you going for
then? Handsome homosexual in his log cabin?”

“A gay playboy more
likely.” Dom smirked, but it was a pale expression.

“Okay, I think I’m gonna
go work on perfecting my Lumbersexual look.” Seth got up with a long exhale.
Dom had started to make fun of him for growing a bit of a beard. For one, Seth
just couldn’t be bothered, for two, it was more important for Dom to shave
because of the wound reaching his cheek. Not to mention that Dom just hoarded
all the razors anyway, claiming that grooming gave him a sense of civilization.

“Which means what
exactly? Are you gonna jerk off again? You know you don’t have to freeze your
ass off to do that,” Domenico said casually.

Seth stilled, not daring
to look back at Dom. “Have you been spying on me?” he hissed, annoyed at the
weird spark of pleasure he got from that. Not just at the idea of Dom watching
him, but at the fact that lack of respect for his privacy was so much in line
with the ‘old Dom’.

Domenico pulled on the
blanket he covered his legs with. “I wanted to know why you keep leaving in the
most random moments.”

Seth groaned and turned
around with his face aflame. “So I don’t feel comfortable with having my
brother listen while I jerk off in the other room.”

Domenico chuckled. “One
word: threesome.”

“Well, there’s no one to
have a threesome with here, unless you count Mr. Antler over there.” Seth
pointed to the deer trophy on the wall. He was starting to regret he told Dom
about the threesome, but Dom had put him on the spot, and there was no taking
it back now.

Domenico scowled. “Too
dry, but I appreciate the horns.”

“Well I’m horny too, so
I’m gonna go and
chop some wood
, and come back when I’m done.”

“Yeah, you’d look good
with horns.” Domenico wiggled his eyebrows, confusing Seth’s dick. Was he to
react to the flirting or cower?

“Are you really getting
that bored and desperate?” He faked a laugh.

Domenico shrugged.
“Meaning?”

Seth stilled. Oh God.
Did he misinterpret Dom’s words? “I...”

Domenico scratched his
nape. “I think I’ll make some coffee.”

Seth turned around and
left the cabin at the speed of a tornado. He didn’t even take his jacket, as
the weather had gotten a bit milder lately, and he needed to cool down. He got
to his usual spot behind a large old tree and unzipped his pants as soon as he
leaned his back against the cold bark. Fucking Dom with his fucking pheromones
and coarse-fingered hands. Seth couldn’t pull his dick out fast enough. His
mind was so hazy he didn’t even know which fantasy to latch on to. There was
that one about Dom fucking him on a beach and pushing his face into the sand
until he couldn’t breathe anymore as they orgasmed, or the one about Dom
sucking him off under a table in a restaurant.

Seth had never had so
many fantasies about bottoming as he’d started to have after meeting Dom. He
went with the beach in the end, imagining the hot sun, the smell of sea, the
waves tickling his feet, and Dom’s cock driving into him like a fucking piston.

His knees were getting
weak, and he spat on his palm for better glide. The rhythm in which his hand
moved mirrored the way he wanted to be fucked by Dom. Fast, rough and dirty. He
imagined Dom’s hair falling on his back, his rough hands grabbing Seth’s flesh
as if there were handles to hold on to during the ride. Because Dom was riding
Seth with as much pleasure as a kid on a roller coaster.

And then a car drove
into the beach.

Seth’s eyes flew open,
and he stuffed his painfully erect dick back into his pants, as the sound of
the car approaching on the dirt road got louder. The sprint to the cabin only
took a few seconds, and he entered through the back door, only to face the
barrel of a Beretta.

Domenico exhaled, his
jaw muscles flexing. “Who is it?” he asked coolly.

“I don’t know.” Seth
rushed to get their suitcase and a gun. He hoped to work it out somehow with
the owner, but one couldn’t be too careful.

“Let’s just get rid of
them now,” Dom said, walking over to the back exit with his hand squeezed on
the gun.

Seth did a double take.
“No. Jesus Christ. Let’s try to contain this,” he said as they heard a key
moving in the lock. “Act natural. Sort off.”

Domenico exhaled, though
Seth could see the tension in his body even as he hid the gun in the hoodie he
put over the shirt. They stared at the door as if there were a squadron of
special force police waiting on the other side, ready to gut them with bullets.

But when the door
opened, it was just an old man, who stared at them with his eyes so wide Seth
feared they’d have to get him to the ER soon.

Seth raised his hands
and gave the guy his best smile. At least his boner was faltering. “No need to
be alarmed. We’re so sorry, please don’t call the cops,” he quickly said.
“We’re not some creeps.” Obvious lie.

The man looked back,
presumably assessing whether he could beat them to his car, but then cleared
his throat, still remaining on the porch, as if crossing the threshold equaled
jumping off a cliff. But they wouldn’t do anything to him. With the man’s white
beard it would feel like choking the life out of Santa.

“W-- what are you doing
here?”

“My bike ran out of gas,
sir. It was such a series of unfortunate events for me and my brother,” Seth
pointed to Dom and put his hands down. “We thought we’d leave in a few days and
cause no one worries.”

Domenico’s voice had a
slightly shrill tone to it as he spoke, with his hands submissively clasped in
front of his stomach. “We are so sorry. I got into this accident, and couldn’t
go back to work for a long time. Then there were the medical bills, and we
couldn’t afford the rent. We stopped in the middle of nowhere, and this place seemed
like a good place not to freeze. We’re so, so sorry,” Dom choked out.

Seth didn’t show his
surprise but he was impressed by the acting skills. Every day he saw another
glimpse of the old Dom in the man who didn’t know him.

The old man watched them
with a tense frown. “What’s your names, boys?” he said and took another few
steps closer, finally walking into the house.

Domenico exhaled.
“Gian.”

“Bastian.” Seth held out
his hand to the man and gave Dom the side-eye. ‘Gian’? That was a seriously hot
name, or Seth was just going crazy.

Domenico greeted the old
man, too, his head hung in a display of shame. It seemed to work on their
unwilling host, who shook his head. “I’m Donald. I gotta say this is the last
thing I expected. Did you eat all my food?”

“Some of it,” Seth
admitted with an apologetic smile. “I’m so sorry. It was so cold outside. I can
make you a fantastic pasta though.” He racked his brain for something they
could do for the guy, as they couldn’t show that they actually had money.

Donald frowned, staring
at the bed in his living room. “That would be nice. It’s freezing out there.”

“Bastian’s a cook. He
makes amazing food,” Domenico said, walking over to the bed. “And we will take
the bed back where it belongs, don’t worry.”

“I’ve been looking for a
job for months, but you know how it is in this economy,” Seth said and went
over to the kitchenette to make the best dish he could think of out of the
limited produce.

He could hear Dom and
Donald talking behind him, and it was only progressing into more of a sob
story, with Dom adding little details about being injured by two thugs whom he
confronted about teasing a girl in the street. As the story expanded to them
heading to their cousin’s place in Washington State, Donald became more and
more open to them, clearly believing what he was told. By the time Seth was
done with the food, their host showered them with clothes he didn’t need
anymore. After he tried the pseudo-risotto, the humanitarian help grew to a
promise of giving them enough gas so they could reach the nearest town, and by
the time they left the cabin two hours later, Donald gave them a hundred bucks
so they could actually buy more gas.

It was nice to see there
was good in the world. Seth felt so guilty he left Donald some money in a cookie
jar. They even shared hugs with the guy, and with a backpack full of
provisions, they left the cabin, waving back at Donald.

“See, we didn’t even
have to kill anyone,” Seth grinned at Dom over his shoulder as they drove along
the road in the middle of the forest. There was hope ahead.
