"Yeah, you saved my life." I pause, weighing my words. "And I didn't feel much until you came along, either."
A strained noise comes from his throat. "I wish I could touch you."
"Why don't you try?" I feel like my chest is overflowing, like my own desire might wash me away.
He reaches his hand out ever so tentatively toward my face. I wait with bated breath, expecting his shaking fingers to pass through and wondering how that will be. Instead, his cold hand caresses my cheek. His wide, amazed eyes meet mine, and then he smiles.
