Heart's Betrayal (24 page)

“I’m a whore and I like it. Please I beg of you. Don’t do this. It’s
me.
Jen
. Please.” I said as I gasped for air crying hysterically.

“I know who you are and I waited a long time, killed lots of people just to get to you.” He raised an eyebrow at me. “Now be grateful I’m not blowing your fucking head off. Be quiet.” He placed his finger he had inside of me on my lips. “You see Michael, now I’m going to put it in her, your so-called wife, and look…she doesn’t care, because she wants it.” His eyes met mine for a moment. I could see the blank stare in his eyes…
the look of a rapist…of a murderer...of a psychopath.

“But I’m going to do it from behind so you can see her pretty hazel eyes, Michael, hmmm…that’s good.” he said as I yelled as he plunged another finger inside of me.

He pulled my hair and threw me on the floor right next to Michael. He slid his fingers across his lips and licked them. “Hmmm…you don’t know what you’re missing Michael, doggy style bitch…hmmm…she tastes so good.” I wanted to die, and I reached out to Michael and Dave stepped right on my hand.

“I’ll break your arm, bitch! You love Michael, don’t you?! Don’t you?” He grabbed my hands to pull down his pants.

I pushed his hand away and stood up to run away. He grabbed me by the back of my hair and slapped me across my face. Our eyes locked. I sobbed as I pulled his zipper down freeing his erection. I almost threw up in my mouth.

“Dave, please don’t do this…don’t. Do. This.” I begged him and then I fell on my knees.

He pushed me on the floor and stood in position behind me, he held my arms behind my back and kissed the side of my face gently. He spread open my legs with his hands and pushed himself inside of me.

“Goddamnit, Jen, I could come right now you’re so fucking tight!” He yelled. My body tensed up. I tried so hard to pull away from his body and I loosened my arms from his grip. I turned around and kicked him in the groin. He keeled over. I grabbed him by his throat and tried to bite his cheek. He punched me in my face and my head hit the end table.

“Feisty little bitch! Aren’t you?” he said as he punched me in the face again. Me fighting him must have turned him on. He grabbed me again and threw me on the floor on my back. He push hard inside of me as I tried to squeeze my thighs together so he wouldn’t get in. I did everything in my power to have him slide out of me. The feeling of his body against me, his manhood sliding in and out of me, the smell of his hot breath that smelled like black espresso and cigarettes, made my insides churn. “This is how it’s done, son! Say you love me, whore, you better say it, or I’ll kill him!” he said breathing heavily. I could feel his sweat dripping off of him, dropping onto my chest like stacks of bricks. My head was spinning as I closed my eyes tightly. My body was so tense, I could feel my hip and thigh bones crack as I tried to tighten them closed so he could pull out of me.

“I love you, Dave.” I whispered. I wanted to die a thousand deaths. I felt like a trapped animal and I began to lose it. Dave pushed himself inside of me harder. I was crying hysterically while he raped me over and over. He was thrusting so hard I could feel my insides tearing. I looked over at Michael, and he stared at me with those blue-green eyes in agony. I called out his name as I cried desperately, “Michael, Michael, please…help me!” then Dave placed his dirty hand over my mouth.

I couldn’t breathe, and the world stopped for a moment. The air was thick as I looked up at the ceiling and I cried silently for my mother in my mind; I even cried for my father begging him to help me, but no one was there to save me. I heard nothing…everything was silent. I felt so helpless like my mother did when my father was beating her, she couldn’t get away.
Run! Mommy! Run!
I loosened my arm from his grip again and grabbed Dave’s hand and he let go of my mouth. I looked at Dave with dread, and he stopped for a moment, studying my face, my eyes, and then he looked at me with a sense of sorrow in his eyes, like he was sorry, for only that moment. I could see him, the real him and I was even more frightened. I looked away and then he placed his face between my breasts and pushed into me faster and faster until he climaxed. I felt the rumbling in my stomach that slowly crept up through to my mouth. My arms lay spread out on either side of me on the floor and I didn’t move. I thought I had died, then, I tilted my head to one side and felt the warm vomit trickle out of the side of my mouth.

Dave held on to me tightly and began to kiss my cheek and my forehead. I kept regurgitating bile and it felt as if I were having a seizure. My body began to shake uncontrollably. Dave held me down until my body stopped shaking. He wiped my mouth with his sleeve. I looked at Dave and closed my eyes. I started to pray in my mind.
Dear God, Let me die.

“You fuckin’ bitch! Why? Why would you do that to me, Jen? You didn’t enjoy yourself… I love you.” he yelled, crying in my face. “The way my mother loved her son. I would’ve done anything for you…why don’t you love me? Why?” his last breath was blowing my hair into the wind, that’s how hard he was yelling in my face. He placed his hands around my neck and started to squeeze. I grabbed his hands to try to stop him. I tried to push him off of me but he was so strong and I just didn’t have the strength. We were struggling, but I could feel myself losing the air in my lungs. My struggle became less and less and as I looked up at Dave, our eyes locked. His face was stressed and he seemed as if it took everything he had in his body to try to snuff the life out of mine. I lifted my hands, pulling all of the strength in body, to grab a hold of his face and then I heard it, his eyes black and unsympathetic shut closed, his mouth parted as his hands slowly released my neck. I closed my eyes for a moment, feeling the weakness in my limbs again, coughing uncontrollably, and trying to get the air back into my lungs.

I opened my eyes and saw Michael standing over me with a gun in his hand. Dave wasn’t moving. His head was plopped against my shoulder, the weight of his body consuming me. Michael stood staring at Dave and leaned over and placed his ear against his mouth to hear if he was breathing. He glanced at me and pulled Dave off of me. I was feeling light headed, and a sharp pain in my belly ignited as I saw Dave being pushed over onto his back. I could see the blood pouring from his chest. I looked at Michael and his eyes widened. He fell to his knees on the floor and placed his hand over my navel. I felt as if warm liquid was pouring out of my stomach. Michael grabbed his cell phone from the floor.

“Oh my God.” Michael whispered. He looked at his hand and it was covered with blood. He picked me up and placed me on the bed and covered me with the quilt. He ran down the stairs as I suddenly became light headed again, the room spinning as I tried to keep my eyes open. I heard Michael return and say,

“I need an ambulance…721 cherry hill lane…now! My wife’s been shot! Hurry!”

Michael pressed hard on my stomach. I realized then that I had been shot when he called 911. I stood still and held Michael’s hand as he put pressure on the wound.

“Jenesis, hold on baby…hold on.” His face was tense and his forehead was saturated with sweat.

I heard the police car sirens. I could hear the sirens getting closer to the house. I heard the front door being kicked open downstairs. I glanced over at Dave’s lifeless body. My heart began to race and I started to feel sick and…
cold.

“Place your hands above your head!” one of the police officers said. I looked up and Michael turned around.

The police called for assistance. The blood from my stomach continued to pour out running down my thighs like red, thick paint. I was feeling faint and I kept trying to hold myself up.

“I said put your hands up! Now! Are you fucking deaf!” the officer repeated.

Michael placed his bloody hands above his head and stood up.

“This man just finished raping my wife! I had to shoot him!” He said yelling at the officer. “Now get your ass in gear and call that fucking ambulance again!” he screamed.

Michael applied pressure to my wound and held the quilt tight on it to try to stop the bleeding. The police officers were checking out Dave. I looked down at Dave and he was lying on his back lifeless in front of me. I began to see double and I was coming in and out of consciousness. I was seeing things move and I started to close my eyes. The walls were closing in on me, and I heard people speaking really loudly. It all felt like a dream to me. I felt like I was having an outer body experience. I felt as If I were…
dying
.

I kept staring at Dave, who raped and tortured me; that look on his face as he held me down and strangled me with his hands. I held my stomach and grabbed Michael’s hand with the little strength that I had left in my body. He stared at me and smiled consolingly and said,

“You’re going to be okay, I promise.” I looked at the floor and everything seemed so blurry, then I thought I saw Dave’s hand move. I grabbed Michael’s arm and opened my mouth to scream but nothing came out. I pushed Michael against his chest with every bit of power that I had inside of me. I saw Dave reaching for his gun he had attached to his ankle. He rolled over on his side and shot Michael in the back. I yelled with all of my might and more blood drained out of my stomach. Michael fell on top of me, and the police officer shot Dave in the back of the head, splattering his blood and pieces of his brain all over the floor and against the wall. I held Michael as he looked up at me, the pain in his eyes visible.

“Jenesis?” he whispered.

Michael stared at me as blood pumped out of his mouth and then his body went limp on top of me. The blood from my stomach continued to drain out of my body, and I began to lose consciousness.

“Michael… I love you.” I whispered and that’s all that I remembered.

I woke up the next morning, opening one eye at a time. The sun from the hospital window shone brightly on my face giving me the sun-kissed warmth of the sun. I looked up from the bed staring at the crooked shade that hung against the window pane. My hands were cold and I slid them under the blanket.

“Mrs. Hunter?” someone asked.

“Yes.” I whispered.

“My name is Dr. Harrell, your surgery went well. You’re going to have a full recovery.” He said as he held my hand.

“Thank you.” I said groggy looking around the room for Michael.

“Dr. Harrell, and my husband?” I asked. He looked at me and held my hand.

“Michael, he’s in surgery right now, it looks like he’s going to make it.” He gave me a reassuring smile and held my hand.

I felt like I couldn’t breathe and then my heart fluttered back to life. The feelings I had simmering inside of me were that of a person who didn’t care about herself or value her own life.
How could I continue to love someone who did that to me? How could I even think of staying with Michael?
My reasoning wasn’t as simple as I thought. I was naïve Jenesis, from a small town in Pennsylvania, who was abused all of her life. I could make this right and walk away. I survived. But why can’t I do it? The first person I thought of when I woke up was HIM. I knew it seemed crazy, but I loved him. I loved him with all of my heart,
unconditionally
. Michael was the other half of me, my soul mate
.
I just didn’t know, but I knew I loved him unconditionally and I would love him forever and that would never change.

We stayed at the hospital for a couple of days recovering from our wounds.  The nurse woke me up and told me I was going to be interviewed by some detectives soon. It was like a circus show at the hospital. Doctor’s and nurse’s walking in and out of the room. Whispering and talking behind my back. I felt like a criminal. I felt like I was in hell.

The horror story of reliving the events that lead to Dave’s death was unbearable and frightening at the same time. So many detectives and FBI agents were lining up outside just to see me. A few I recognized as Dave’s friends and some had attended our wedding.  Even though his colleagues didn’t like him as much as I thought, they highly respected him and never believed that Dave tried to kill me. The buzz around the hospital was that I was in a love triangle with Dave and Michael. I was stuck between a rock and hard place. Michael worked with him on the Danielson Case, I worked with him, and everyone thought that David, Michael and I have been involved in a ménage a trois. As I sipped on my coffee, a tall, very handsome, blonde haired, blue-eyed detective walked into my room.

“Jenesis, I’m detective Corrigan, may I have a word with you?” he said politely.

I sat up in the bed and placed the bed sheet over my chest.

“Yes, of course,” I answered.

“Jenesis, I know you and Dave were friends for the last year and a half, almost two. You were very close. You said he raped you and killed other women, including a college professor and his girlfriend, um…Margaret. Do you have proof of any of this?” he said with a sardonic look on his face as he read some notes from his binder.

“He
did
rape me. The hospital should have a rape kit when I arrived here.” I said anxiously.

“Yeah, well, about that, you were bleeding to death, so, the rape kit was overlooked. They had to save your life right away, first things, first. Right?” he said unremorsefully. “Look, I’m not saying I don’t believe you, I’m just saying if he did, the evidence is gone now.” he said as he glanced towards the floor.
