His to Punish (The Cleaners Book 2) (16 page)

“You heard the boss, titch, let’s get you home.” Ty gently turned her until she was facing him, and she swallowed hard when he cradled her head in his large hands.

“I’m sorry,” he said.

“For what?”

“For putting you through tonight, but we had to be sure.”

“This was a set-up?” How she managed to get the words past the huge lump in her throat she would never know. Ty clenched his jaw, and when he simply nodded, she wanted to hit him. How dare he put her through this?

The anger she needed just wouldn’t come however, not when he looked at her as though she was the most precious thing to him. His hands slipped lower until he could massage the base of her skull, right where Wonsan had tried to rip her hair out so cruelly, and Jeanette closed her eyes. That gentle pressure felt way too good on her sore scalp, and when she moaned Ty stopped.

Heat flared in his dark eyes when her eyes fluttered open and their gazes connected.

“Say the word, and I’ll hunt him down, orders be fucked. I hate that he got to hurt you, even just a little bit. No one will ever touch you again, I promise. You’re mine now, if you want to be, that is.” He paused, his face contorted as though it cost him dearly to say those words, and she had to push him a little more, just to be sure what her heart was telling her right now was the truth. Ty was hard to read at the best of times, after all, and this could all simply be chalked up to her being overwrought.

“And if I don’t want to be?” she asked.

Ty closed his eyes briefly, his hold on her tightening for one precious second, before he dropped his hands and stepped away from her. It took every ounce of self-control she had to not close the distance between them. Goosebumps broke out across her exposed skin, and the cold hand of dread squeezed her inside and made breathing difficult. She could almost see the wall going up around Ty, as he schooled his face into an expressionless mask.

“You’re free to go wherever you want to be. There’s accommodation here, if you’d rather not come back to the house, with me.”

Ty’s strained words belied the careful way he tried to hide his feelings, and Jeanette’s heart beat faster.

His voice held that deep, delicious growl, which never failed to get her wet. She licked her lips to get some saliva into her dry mouth and the way Ty’s gaze dropped to her mouth instantly, as though he wanted to devour her, made her moan.

“I have a better idea, Sir,” she said.

“You do?” Ty’s face cracked into that sinful grin she loved, when she nodded, and flung her arms around his neck.

“Yes, Sir, take me home, and show me what it means to be yours.”

Ty pulled back to study her, and that slow grin morphed into a full on smile. It lit up his dark features, and made him look far more approachable

“Are you sure, titch?” Even as he said that, he pulled her closer into his frame, dropping kisses along her jaw, and neck, his stubble creating delicious friction and making her feel gloriously alive. “‘Cause I gotta tell you, once I got you in my bed, I’ll tie you up and won’t ever let you go. Even if you beg me. I’m not that fucking noble that I can keep my hands off you, or let anyone else touch you again, ever.”

He pulled back to study her face, and the depth of emotion that shone from his dark eyes soothed the last of her misgivings. Fuck everything else. Fuck notions of right and wrong, this, right here in her Sir’s arms was where she wanted to be. He might be the big bad, but he was
her
big bad, and together they would make it work. Besides, the world was a damn scary place, and who better to keep her safe than the Cleaners?

“I think it sounds wonderful, Sir.”

“Thank fuck for that.”

Ty picked her up, pinned her to the wall, and proceeded to kiss her senseless.

When he finally let her come up for air, the world was spinning and Jeanette knew that her life as she’d known it was well and truly over. A new adventure was waiting for her, with the man she had fallen head over heels in love with, when she hadn’t been looking.

Ty flicked her nose and grinned.

“You know my mother will be even more impossible now.”

Ty pulled a face and Jeanette giggled.

“I like your impossible mother, but why would she be?” she asked.

“Because, my little unruly subbie, she told me years ago, that the day she asked a girl I brought home, whether she loved me…” He shook his head and laughed. “That would be the girl for me.”
