Heroes, on the other hand, can be troublesome. They
do silly, self-sacrificial things at the most inopportune times.
Many a tale has gone astray while following a noble impulse.

Fox Winterborn possesses this unfortunate tendency.
Left to his own devices, he might not have embarked on this new
quest, the telling of which will surely win the hearts of the fairy
court. Thanks to the Thorn, it promises to be a tale of treachery
and deceit, sorrow and death.

There is, however, an unfortunate element.

The elf who calls herself Honor Evenstar, the living
elf who carries the taint of metal in her flesh and the voice of a
tyrant in her ears, still follows the call of honor and
sacrifice.

But she will not be accounted a hero.
