Kate Sherwood - Dark Horse 2.2 - Head Shy (9 page)

Jeff can't do this, not in the context of some game, of Dan pretending. "Dan…"

Dan interrupts, and his voice is subtly different. "It's okay. I want it." He grins. "Just one finger, though, dude, don't get carried away…."

"Are you sure?"

Dan just nods, and shifts a little so that his cock moves closer to Jeff's mouth, and Jeff grins at the hint and gets back to work there, and he brings his hand down, runs it between Dan's legs, and he's still not sure, but Dan arches out towards him, spreads his legs and relaxes his glutes, and Jeff figures that he could do more damage by refusing than by going along, so he slides the moistened finger up, finds the hole and just plays with it a little, not going inside, just edging around the rim. He wants to take this slow, wants to be totally Goddamn sure it isn't anything but pleasant, and he lifts his mouth off Dan's cock just long enough to shift over and reach for a bottle from the counter. Olive oil might not be safe for use with condoms, but it should be fine with just his finger. Dan's got his eyes closed. He must know Jeff's reached for

something, but he hasn't looked to see what it was, and that lack of curiosity has Jeff a little worried. "Dan, bring your hands down, okay, sweetheart?" Dan blinks and lets his hands fall. He looks like maybe he wasn't even aware they'd still been up there. "If we're doing this…."

"Which we are," Dan cuts in.

"Okay, but… one of your hands on my head, okay? And the other maybe on my arm? You can tell me to pull out if you want…."

"Dude, it's fine. I was stupid before, it's a fucking finger, I want it. Seriously." He sounds a little testy and seems to realize it. When he continues, he sounds a lot more relaxed. "Really. Give it to me, sir." And this time he's making fun, and that helps reassure Jeff that things are okay. Makes him feel a bit stupid about his little kink, but, whatever, he can take it. "Ooh, sir, your finger, it's so big, how will it ever fit?"

Jeff has to laugh a little. Smart ass Dan is familiar, at least. He twists the lid off the olive oil and drizzles a little onto his finger, and then looks up and smiles. "You let me know if you want me to stop."

"Jesus, Jeff, you're such a fucking princess. I spend half my time begging you to actually do something, and then when you get around to it, you're begging me to tell you to stop." Dan reaches a hand down to Jeff's head, as requested, and the other grabs the wrist of Jeff's lubed hand and guides it not too subtly around to Dan's ass. "You told me where you wanted my hands." and the hand in Jeff's hair tightens and pushes Jeff's mouth towards Dan's dick, while the other pushes Jeff's finger between Dan's cheeks.

Jeff abandons his hesitations and gets to work. He concentrates on the head of Dan's cock and the rim of his ass, and it isn't long before Dan's calm, mocking demeanor has left him, although this time it seems to be

because he's enthusiastic, not because he's removed himself.

Jeff works the finger just a little inside, then back out, and he mimics the movement with his mouth on Dan's cock, going just a bit past the head and then back up. He does this a few times, working his finger further in, his mouth further along each time. Dan's definitely reacting, the hand in his hair tightening each time, and Jeff's ninety-five percent sure that it's pleasure, especially when Dan's other hand keeps trying to push Jeff a little further in with each thrust. Eventually, he's pressing in as far as he can reach and going down as far as he can manage each time, and he starts working his finger inside, and whatever Dan's reluctance to bottom stems from, it's definitely
not
due to an insensitive prostate, because Dan just about bucks his whole body off the wall as soon as Jeff starts working it, and from then on his whole body is tense, but it doesn't seem unpleasant, because he's moving, all parts of him, just tiny little waves of encouragement as if every muscle is aligned and working towards orgasm together. Jeff takes his hand off Dan's cock and runs it all over his body, and he can actually feel Dan's climax building, feel the muscles in his back go from tense to almost spasming, and Jeff's shoulders can feel Dan's thighs tighten even more, and then Dan's groaning, and Jeff pulls his mouth off just a little but works his tongue and his finger furiously, and the fingers in Jeff's hair tighten into a scalp-pulling fist as Dan's whole body seizes and he shoots into Jeff's mouth, wave after wave, and Jeff milks Dan through it. It's one of the hottest things Jeff's ever been a part of, to feel Dan come apart this spectacularly and he's torn between letting himself savor the moment and trying to focus on remembering it and locking the sensations away in his brain.

Eventually, the fingers in Jeff's hair relax and then pull with a little more purpose, and Jeff reluctantly lifts his mouth off. They both stay frozen for a few breaths, and then Jeff eases his finger out of Dan's body and Dan pulls Jeff's hair, lifting him up until they can fit their mouths together. The kiss is sloppy, but deep and sincere, and Jeff really kind of

wants to take Dan to bed and kiss him for another week or two, just wallow in the afterglow, and he thinks back to his earlier sense of satisfaction at being a host and grins. Sometimes it's the best thing to be alone in your house. Well, not
alone
, that's not what he wants, and he pulls Dan in tighter against him, relishing the moment for as long as it lasts.

But already Dan is squirming a little, grinning almost bashfully. "We should get cleaned up, probably… get out there…."

Jeff nods his agreement, but settles in for another long kiss instead of actually moving. There's no reluctance, no shyness or reserve in the way Dan kisses back, and Jeff is relieved to be able to decide that he made the right call in going along with the exploration.

Dan’s hand is still threaded through Jeff's hair, and he’s using that grip to pull his head away. "Jeff, man, this isn't like you. Where's your self-control, dude?" He smiles happily. "I think
I'm
the one with the 'just came my brains out,' excuse, so what's up with you?"

Jeff smiles back at him. "I just
made
you come your brains out. I'm celebrating my achievement."

Dan nods, but then there's a sound from outside, maybe a chair being moved, maybe because someone's about to come inside, and Dan glances down at their disheveled state. "Okay, good achievement. Now tuck in and do up your pants, you slob." He turns the water on and pulls a clean dish cloth out of the drawer. "Want me to wash your hands again, or can you manage it yourself this time?"

"I want you to wash my hands always, for the rest of my life…but if you do it now, it's going to be really hard to not start up again, so…." Jeff shuffles over to the sink and runs his hands under the water, then adds a squirt of soap. Dan cuts in above him, stealing the water with his cloth, and Jeff playfully pushes him away with his hip, leading to Dan flicking

water in Jeff's face. Jeff's figuring out how to retaliate, then sees Dan looking at Jeff's shirt and smiling.

"Better change that before we go outside," Dan suggests, and Jeff looks down to see the tell-tale white splashes.

"Yeah, okay," Jeff agrees, and he forces himself to back away from the sink. It's hard to turn away, hard to leave Dan for even as long as it takes to get to the bedroom and back, and yeah, it's still a little scary, but mostly, it just feels good. Feels right. He walks backwards until he gets to a point where a wall interferes with his view, and then he turns around and practically runs the rest of the way into the bedroom and grabs the first shirt he sees off of the pile of clean laundry. He knows he's acting like a kid, and he really doesn't care.

Dan's sitting on the counter waiting for him when he gets back to the kitchen, and his eyes light up when he sees Jeff, and Jeff knows his eyes do the same, and Jesus Christ, Jeff isn't one to use the word lightly, but it's stupid to deny it, and it's probably time to think about saying it. He's in love with Dan, and he wants Dan to know it. He wants the whole damn world to know it, really, but…he'll settle for just Dan. And Evan, of course. And that's a wrinkle of complication, an element Jeff hasn't been thinking about, and it's not unwelcome, exactly, because Jeff loves Evan too, nothing's changed there, it's just a complication in terms of actually expressing things, because what if Evan isn't ready to say it yet, or what if he is but Jeff can't really find out without having a conversation with him about it and it maybe seems a bit disrespectful of Dan to be having that conversation without him being involved, and…

Jeff cuts off that line of thought, and focuses on the warmth in Dan's smile. "You ready?" Jeff asks, and Dan nods and hops off the counter. Jeff grabs four beers out of the fridge and Dan takes some chips off the counter and they head out to find Evan and Chris. Jeff might not want to share, but

he can't deny that both of the other men have a pretty clear claim to Dan's time and affection. Jeff more or less knew what he was getting into when he suggested all this; he doesn't have any right to start being reluctant now.

CHAPTER FOUR - Evan

Evan stretches his legs out in front of him and closes his eyes in order to turn his face directly into the warm afternoon sun. They don't get that much sunshine at this time of year, and he's going to soak up as much of it as he can. He hears movement behind him, and then there's a moment of silence before he hears Chris's voice.

"'No, man, you've got to stay—we'll have some more drinks, and dinner.'" Chris's voice is high and whiny, and Evan remembers saying those
words
, but he's pretty sure he didn't use that tone. Chris isn't done. "'Screw work tomorrow, man—we'll go in at noon. It's cool, I know the boss.' and, what else was there? Oh, yeah—'The day is just beginning.'" Evan hears the gentle tinkling slosh of ice in liquid being shaken near his ear. "And now you're out here napping. Damn, you're as lazy as Dan."

"Considering how hard that guy works six days a week—I am
much lazier
than Dan, and I won't hear otherwise." Evan doesn't open his eyes, but he does reach a hand up to take the drink that Chris is 'offering' him. He brings it to his lips for a sip and can hear Chris moving around. Then the heat of the sun disappears, and Evan growls in protest. "You're blocking my rays, asshole."

"No. I can understand your confusion, but that's actually God blocking your rays."

Evan half opens one eye to see that, indeed, Chris is calmly settling

into a nearby chair, and the sun has been blocked by a cloud. "Damn. I can't threaten to fire God."

"You could threaten to sue him… oh, wait, you already are!"

Evan likes the sound of Chris's amused voice. "No, man, I told you—we're suing a
church
. It's different. God wouldn't have built a parking lot on land he doesn't own and then been an asshole about it." Chris has spent the last couple months at the office alternately studying for the California bar and looking over the company's existing legal issues— he's also fast become Evan's go-to guy for help with anything vaguely law-related. Evan is really, really glad Chris took his job offer, and not only because having his friend in the state has made Dan so happy. Although that's been nice to see too, even if Dan's typical way of
expressing
that happiness comes in the form of growled threats and insults.
Most
of those have been directed at Chris, so Evan hasn't been too concerned.

Evan shifts so that if the sun comes back it won't blind him, then opens his eyes and smiles at Chris. "Thanks for the drink, dude."

"No problem, boss man." Chris raises his own glass in a little toast, which Evan returns.

"Let me ask you a question, young Christopher." Evan thinks this might actually be useful. "How come you're so easy with that? The boss thing. I mean, Dan acted like… I don't know, I thought he was maybe going to chew his foot off in order to get free from the trap of being my employee, and this afternoon, at the game—people are always weird about it at things like that, too. Like they want to talk to me, but then they're nervous, like they're worried I'm going to pull rank, or judge them at the office for the way they act in their personal lives. But, you, man… it

Head Shy | Kate Sherwood
doesn't seem to bother you at all. It's great, but… how come?"

Chris gives it a little thought, then grins. "You want a one-word answer?"

"Okay." Chris likes to talk, so Evan doubts it will stay at one word, but it's a fine way to start.

"Arrogance." Chris leans back and laces his hands behind his head, leaning back with an air of total self-satisfaction.

It's Evan's turn to think, and then he nods. "Yeah. Okay. So, you're just so convinced that you're great at your job that you don't worry about losing it for any reason."

Chris shakes his head a little. "Well, yeah, I don't worry about it. But that doesn't mean that I'm unaware of the possibility that I
could
lose it. I mean, supervisors could get angry at my perfection… you know, jealous… or their own incompetence could prevent them from seeing how awesome I am." He smiles as he takes a self-satisfied sip of his drink. "But I don't worry because I'm so great that I could get another job somewhere else, no problem."

"Okay, yeah. Arrogance. Excellent one word answer." Evan takes another sip. He and Jeff have been working on drinking Wild Turkey lately—Jeff took to it no problem, and he and Chris have started sampling other Kentucky bourbons and different types of Turkey. Evan's still mostly at the 'sucking on ice cube' stage, but he's getting there. "And that's why you don't worry that I'm going to show you undeserved preference, or something."
"No praise or promotion could be undeserved, man." Evan can't

Head Shy | Kate Sherwood
decide if Chris is joking or not. "You could retire tomorrow and give me your job, and, really… I'd deserve that."
