Ride Hard and Free (Biker Erotic Romance) (4 page)

“Yeah,” Karen confirmed distractedly as she found her dress and started fishing around for her underwear.

“Cool,” said Cole, picking up Karen’s panties off the floor and offering them to her, “I’ll drive you back after breakfast.”

“Thanks,” Karen said, taking her underwear from Cole with a shamefaced look. She ought not be embarrassed about it, having just spent the night with him, and yet the full implications of what she’d done were only now starting to dawn on her.

The motorbike ride back was as exhilarating as the previous night’s had been, but it couldn’t mitigate the morning-after haze that clouded Karen’s thoughts. The fact that she was riding on the back of a bike while naked from the thighs down was bad enough; doing so in broad daylight, even with only a few people out and about on a
Sunday
 morning, just made it worse.

As Cole sped down the street back toward her college, the full weight of what she’d done with him the previous night truly sank in for Karen. She was no longer a virgin, thanks to Cole. She’d promised her parents that she’d be a model student, and promised herself that she’d stay away from the usual vices of college life: drugs, liquor, and especially guys she didn’t know. In a single night, she’d violated two out of the three promises, and part of her felt like a whore for it. Worse, that the man she’d given her body to was exactly the sort of bad influence she’d always tried to avoid.

And yet she couldn’t deny the attraction to Cole that she’d felt almost as soon as they’d met. The confident way he carried himself and his smooth, unapologetic attitude, not to mention his rugged good looks and physical stamina. Karen found herself feeling sexually attracted to Cole, and why wouldn’t she? She knew what he could do in bed, and she knew he was skilled at it, in spite of it being her first time. But now that he’d had his way with her, was she a used product? Would he just leave her to pursue other girls, as his bitchy sister had implied?

Cole drove her all the way back to her dormitory, stopping outside the main door. Karen got off the bike and removed her helmet, fixing it to the back and taking her handbag from the rack.

“Thanks for the ride,” she said out of courtesy before turning to leave.

“Karen, wait,” Cole called after her, getting off his bike.

Karen stopped halfway to the door and turned to face Cole. He towered over her, looking thoroughly imposing in his biker jacket, every inch the bad boy outlaw. But the glint in his eyes was gone; in its place was a look of warm sincerity she’d never expected to see in a Harley rider.

“I know we hardly know each other,” Cole started, “but I knew there was something special about you the minute I saw you. And I don’t want
last night
 to be a one-time thing.”

“Are you asking me out?” Karen asked, taken aback at the idea of a biker boyfriend.

“I’m asking…for your number,” Cole replied, “or at least that you take mine.”

He pulled a piece of paper out of his pocket and gave it to her. Karen accepted it hesitantly, stuffing it in her handbag.

“I thought bad boys didn’t like to get tied down,” Karen noted a little cynically.

“Would I go to all this trouble just to kick you to the curb afterwards?” Cole asked, the bad boy glint returning to his eyes.

“Guys will do anything to get a girl to give it all up,” Karen retorted with a roll of the eyes. “I bet you paid that drunken pig to put his hands on me so you could play the white knight to my damsel in distress.”

“Oh yeah,” replied Cole with a smile, “that’s how desperate I was to meet you, Karen.”

The couple laughed together before Karen regained her composure.

“I have to study,” Karen said, almost sadly, “so…I’ll see you round, Cole.”

On the spur of the moment, Karen kissed Cole on the lips. Then she turned around and headed inside, a pleased smile playing across her lips. After nearly four years of being a model student and a scrupulously chaste, good girl, she’d taken the biggest leap of faith in her life by going home with the bad boy Cole. Losing her virginity to him had changed her life; now he was offering her the chance to be a part of his. Was it worth taking another leap of faith?

As Karen waited for the elevator, the faint roar of Cole’s motorcycle made her come up with her answer. She pulled out the piece of paper with Cole’s seven digits written on it.

Yes it was.
