Rock Star Ex (12 page)

They
were so close, and she had to be feeling the heat too.

He decided to find out.

He
cupped her butt cheek low and his fingertips curled, ducking underneath the hem,
and came to rest on the damp fabric of her panties.

He wanted to cry with how sweet she
felt.

He felt like he would die if he
didn’t explore the moisture with his fingertips.

He moved them the slightest bit against her
and she shuddered the smallest amount from deep within.

He wished Kate to hell with her damn camera.

If only a flaming pit would open beneath her
feet and swallow her up, so he could do what he really wanted to do.

“All right.

That’s perfect, you guys.

It’s a wrap,” Kate announced briskly.

No
.

In
one smooth motion Eve was off of him, pulling herself from his grasp and
straightening her dress.

She stood and
looked down at him from her long, lean height.

When he saw her face, he knew.

He
knew that she’d been playing with him.

Eve
woke late the next morning, in a sweat, and remained there with the covers
pulled over her head as she regained her senses.

She had the sinking feeling that her plan was
backfiring.

For most of the night she’d
tossed and turned as, in her dream, Devon did delicious things to her body she hadn’t
even known were possible.

She
flipped the covers off and stood up, trying to shake off the very real feelings
from her erotic dream.

Shower.

A shower was what she needed. Extra cold
.

She
shuffled into the bathroom and shut the door.

Her clothes fell in a heap as she stripped them off.

Turning on the shower, she stepped right away
into the cold stream, gasping with the shock of it.

Last night
she had done what she could think of to tease him, but she hadn’t expected her
own body to betray her.

She could still
feel his hardness between her legs.

Feel
his fingertips stroke the center of her heat … and she hadn’t wanted it to end.

God!

She’d thought she was over him.

He left you, Eve.

He left you.

She repeated it to herself sternly.

He
deserves some payback.

She’d
been happy to give it.

But the
unexpected consequence had surprised her.

Her body still lusted for him.

And why wouldn’t it?

She
rationalized.

He was extremely
attractive.

He had a killer body.

It made sense.

But she didn’t want to want him.

Hadn’t she talked herself out of this a long
time ago?

She slid to the floor of the
shower in frustration and let the stream of water run down her body.

He
was the typical musician.

Just like all
of the others.

Her body was just
responding in a natural way, that was all.

She just had to be careful to keep her head.

That’s all it would take.

Mind
over matter…mind over matter…

She
repeated the mantra to herself during lunch and then later as she prepared for
the video session they would be filming in the hotel’s honeymoon suite.

“Really?

The honeymoon suite?” she said to Kate.

“You couldn’t get something else?”

Kate
shrugged where she sat on the bed, pecking at the keys of her laptop.

“The hotel manager said it was the best.

You should have seen him.

He was falling all over himself to
accommodate us when I told him it was for an Arsenal music video.”

Eve’s
only response was to sigh noisily as she carefully stuck some false lashes on
with a pair of tweezers.

“It’s
just a room, Eve.

Don’t worry about it.”

Although
she’d claimed to have a weird superstitious feeling about using the honeymoon
suite, it wasn’t really the room she was worried about.

They were supposed to film some footage this afternoon,
intimate footage, and she was wishing desperately for a reason not to do it.

“Holy
shit!” Kate said suddenly, holding the laptop in disbelief.

“Come take a look at this.

You won’t even believe it.”

Eve
walked over to the bed and peered down.

Kate had the Arsenal Facebook page open to the picture she’d posted last
night of her and Devon.

It was one of
the last ones where he was licking her chest and cupping her buttock.

Her head was off to the side, lips parted,
eyelashes fanning her cheek.

A million
emotions lanced through her at hyper speed.

“Do
you see that?”

Kate poked a finger at the
screen.

Eve
leaned forward and squinted at the information below the picture.

“No way!”

There were over twenty-three thousand likes alone, and she didn’t even
bother to count the shares and comments.

“How long has it been up?”

Kate
looked at the corner of her laptop screen where the time was.

“I posted it at about midnight, right after
the session, so it’s been… a little over twelve hours.”

“That
has to be some kind of record.”

There
was silence for a moment and then they both laughed with the thrill of it.

It was the most they’d ever gotten in their
careers.

“Damn
straight it is,” Kate said.

“Did
you text Clayton?”

“No,
was I supposed to?”

“No,
it’s okay, I was.

I’ll take care of it
right now.”

Eve grabbed her phone off of
the dresser and started tapping at the screen.

“Well,
I can’t blame you if you were a little distracted and forgot,” Kate said slyly.

Eve
stopped typing and looked at her friend.

“I almost had to take a cold shower
myself.”

She fanned herself dramatically
and laughed.

Eve
smiled.

“You have no idea.

You’re welcome to take my place today.”

“Are
you kidding?

He’s smoking hot and you
are doing an awesome job.

I swear he
almost drooled on you.”

“What
are you talking about?

He
did
drool on me!”

If there was one thing about Kate, she could
lighten any mood.

She went back to the
text he was writing to Clayton and tried to suppress a shiver as she remembered
the firmness she’d straddled.

Somehow
the success of the photo made her feel better, more confident.

She was just doing her job, or so she told
herself, and she wasn’t done yet.

Devon
walked through the door of the honeymoon suite right on time.

He looked cool and collected, Eve thought.

Not what she’d expected after yesterday.

He gave them both a friendly hello and
curiously looked over the hotel robe she was wearing.

The
suite they were in was huge, probably about fifteen hundred square feet, much
larger than her place in Santa Monica.

The hotel manager had called it a
casita
.

The decorations were contemporary and the
furniture had earthy accents.

There was
a fireplace in the living room along with a fifty-inch flat screen
television.

A full wet bar with granite
countertops separated the living room from the dining room, which held a table
and chairs large enough for six.

Kate
led them to the master bedroom where she’d already set up her lighting.

A beautiful dark wood, four-poster bed
dominated the space.

It had a duvet and
multiple pillows that she could tell were plush from across the room.

“So,
Devon, this is for the
Can’t Sleep
video, and the clips are supposed to represent flashbacks of the girl you are
thinking about in the song,” Kate instructed him.

“Basically, it’s one of those ‘nights you
never forget’ type of things.”

He
nodded, his hands in his pockets.

“Where
do you want me?”

“Go
ahead and sit on the bed.

We’re going to
start with Kate walking in and taking off her robe.

Then you guys will just naturally take it
from there.

It’s a love scene so I’m
sure you know what to do.

We may have to
shoot it a couple of times so I can get different angles but we’ll go all the
way through each time.”

He
walked over to the bed, pulled the edge of the covers back, and sat.

Eve took her mark at the door.

“Is
it okay to put on some music while we do this?” he asked.

“Sure,
we don’t need the sound,” Kate said, she switched on her camera and took the
lens cap off.

“Just remember, this is a
music video so we can’t get too R-rated.”

He
pulled his phone from his pocket and pushed some buttons.

Music started to play, a classic rock
song.

He placed it on the side table.

“Okay.”

Eve
recognized the song.

They’d
simultaneously said they liked it when it had come on the car radio one time.

It had been one of those moments of feeling
like she had found her other half.

Which
couldn’t have been more wrong.

She
wondered if he even realized which song it was.

She took off the thick hotel robe she had on and laid it on a side
chair.

The black silk robe she had
underneath was light and short.

She
stepped into the high heels she’d set down next to the door and gathered her wits.

Showtime.

“Action,
Eve,” Kate said and the light on the front of her camera turned green.

She
strolled slowly to the side of the bed, making sure her hips swayed gently, and
stopped close to Devon.

Giving him her
most smoldering look, she untied the robe and let it slide to the floor.

His eyes darkened to a royal blue and moved
down over the simple black lace bustier and panties she had on.

They continued down slowly, running along the
length of her legs to the black platform heels on her feet.

She
lifted her hand to his arm and slid it up over the curve of his shoulder and
along his collarbone to his cheek.

His eyes
rose to meet hers as he pulled her closer into his embrace.

Their bodies bumped softly together.

One of his hands lifted to toy with her hair,
sending tingles to her scalp.

His
jaw was firm and sexy with just a hint of stubble, blue eyes fastened on her
face, as he seemed to wait.

It was time
to step things up.

She leaned slowly
forward and kissed his full, firm lips.

The
spark from before flared up immediately but she ignored it and continued on,
engaging his lips with hers in heated play.

His hands ran over her back and shoulders: feeling, caressing.

The sensation of them caused sinful
tingles.

Her other hand stole to his arm.

He
was being gentle, light, she noticed.

So
she turned up the heat even more.

Using
both hands she grabbed the hem of his t-shirt and pulled it off over his
head.

He didn’t resist.

As soon as his hands were free he pulled her
left leg up, so her knee rested on the bed, throwing her off balance.

His other hand was on her back pulling her
forward, so she had no choice but to follow.

She balanced herself on his chest.

His bare chest.

The hard planes
of muscle were covered with skin that was soft beneath her fingertips.

She was paralyzed with awareness for a moment
as her mind took in the feel of her body resting completely on top of his.

“Keep
going, Eve,” Kate said.
