“William,” she whispered and fell back onto
the bed, pulling him with her. Something in the back of her mind struggled to
interrupt the moment, but she resisted and ran her fingers through his hair,
losing all thought to his lovemaking. She looked into his eyes and once more
was startled by the intelligence shining in them. Not lifeless robot eyes, but
every bit as human as any eyes she’d ever seen.

It was as though he possessed a soul and it
tugged at hers, making her feel connected to him. Was this how it felt to be in
love with a man? Her heart pounded harder. She rolled over him and sat up, straddling
him. She couldn’t stop the smile spreading her lips wider as she gazed down at
him. This was the image Sexed Up should use in their ad campaign. William lying
in bed framed by rose petals. No woman would be able to resist the seductive
look in his eyes.

“You’re magnificent.” She glided her hands
over his shoulders, savoring each muscled plane. She rolled her hips and his
cock pressed against her buttocks. She flattened her hands on his chest and
lifted just enough for him to guide his cock into her opening.

Randi dragged her tongue over her lips when
his cock slid past the tensed muscles. She relaxed around his thickness and
rotated her hips just enough to ease him deeper inside.

William groaned softly under his breath,
the sound vibrating in his throat as he cupped her breasts. She arched her back
and he sat up, burying his head between her breasts. His fingers teased and
pinched her nipples before he released them to suckle with his lips and then
circle the sensitized nubs with his tongue.

Randi wanted to tell him how she loved the
way he did that, but her throat tightened around the words. Consumed by the
sensations ravaging her body, she could only moan and it was lost beneath the
surf’s roar coming through the open window. She threw back her head, letting
her hair cascade down her back while he supported her by drawing his arms
around her. He lifted his head and stared up at her.

“Baby, you fuck me so good,” he groaned. She
rolled her hips and he fell back into the pillows with a deep, throaty sound.
She rode him faster and a sudden slap to her buttocks took her by surprise.
Heat burst over her flesh, answered by a fiery pulsation to her groin. Large
hands massaged the sting left by the impromptu spanking.

“Do that again,” she demanded and he obliged
with another slap that resounded through the room. Not too hard, just enough to
make the fire building in her burst free in a rising wave. It took her by
surprise, so fast and unexpected in its orgasmic release. She cried as the
involuntary spasms clutched her.

He grunted and pulled her down onto him and
rolled until she was beneath him. He ground into her, pounding his cock harder.
He groaned and his body tensed. The warm flow of his cum filled her.

“Randi,” he whispered, burying his head
into her shoulder.

Chapter Five

“How do I do this, Randi?” William asked
and entered the bedroom, standing in the bathroom doorway. He held the tube of
shaving gel in one hand and a razor in the other, looking like an old TV
commercial she’d seen in the museum.

She walked over to him and lifted her hand
to his face, marveling at the bristle. “Wow. Your beard has begun to grow.”

“You find the greatest pleasure in the
smallest things.” He smiled and turned back into the bathroom.

“I specifically didn’t program the nanites
for hair growth.” She didn’t add the reason was to minimize owner upkeep. What
had stimulated the sudden growth?

“You said the nanites are adaptive. They’re
just doing their job. Come help me. There’s a reward if you show me how to
shave.”

“What did you have in mind?” She giggled,
deciding to run a diagnostic later. She followed him into the bathroom and he
turned, grabbing her hand. He placed it around his hard cock. Her fingers
tightened around him as she rubbed her cheek against his chest. It was easy to
get lost in these feelings for him.

“Teach me to shave,” he said and the sex
fog clouding her mind evaporated. She released him and looked up into his eyes.

“Open your hand,” she instructed and
squirted a dab of gel into his palm. “Now cup your hand and add water.” She
reached over, turned on the faucet and guided his hand underneath the water.
“Work it into a lather.” Randi massaged the gel into his hand, mixing it with
water. Her fingers slipped over his palm. Excited shivers raced down her back.
Oh yeah, she did take pleasure in the simplest of things.

He leaned over and nuzzled her ear. His
warm breath caressed her neck. She leaned against the sink cabinet, taking a
deep breath before lifting her head. Her heart skipped a beat when she met the
passion smoldering in his brown eyes.

“Now what?” he asked.

A warm blush crept over her cheeks.

“Rub it,” she cleared her throat, “over
your face.” She dipped her fingers into the rich lather and smoothed it over
his jaw, drawing it down to his chin, and paused. She could feel his stare as
he watched her in the mirror. She resisted the temptation to look up and
slathered more shaving gel down his other cheek.

“You spoil me,” he said in a baritone voice
and encircled his arms around her waist.

Randi lifted her gaze and met the wildfire
blazing in his eyes. A shaky breath parted her lips and she glided the lather
underneath his nose. If she didn’t stop now, there would be no stopping. Randi
wiped her hand on the towel and twisted from his embrace.

“Is that enough soap?” he asked, glancing
at her and then back at his reflection.

“Take the razor…” She nodded at the razor
on the counter.

He picked it up and held it up.

“Here, let me show you,” she said and
placed her hand over his, trying to control the trembling in her fingers as she
guided the blade down the side of his face. “Now be careful because the blade
is very sharp and will glide through the gel, so don’t press too hard.” She
lowered her hand, allowing him to take control.

“Just hard enough?” he asked and brought
the razor down his neck. The razor head left a clean-shaven path of skin and
she moved from him so he could continue.

“That’s perfect.” She swallowed hard, never
dreaming such a simple act could be so sensual.

His forearm flexed as he lifted the razor
to shave another path down the side of his face.

“Rinse the razor and then shave another
strip.”

He did as instructed and turned his
attention to the other cheek.

Randi watched him take another confident
stroke. Was it possible he really knew how to shave and had just wanted to
tease her? She bit her lip. Could his DNA retain certain memory cells from the
original donor?

“You have an incoming call from Ellen
Forte,” the house computer announced.

“Are you okay to finish up?” she asked him,
but left before he could answer. Her body resisted leaving the mesmerizing
scene, but it was a call she needed to take.

The call with Ellen was unsettling. The
Board was pressuring for results. They demanded a visual of the project next
week and Ellen insisted on a private preview. She didn’t care what stage of
development the prototype was in. She wanted to see it.

Randi worried about William. He acted like
a man, but didn’t understand everything—like shaving.

Returning to the bathroom, she was pleased
he’d decided to take a shower on his own. Standing in the doorway, she watched
him lather the soap and move the bar over his chest. Fine chest hairs glistened
in the sunlight streaming through the row of windows above the shower.

Her gaze devoured him as he moved soapy
hands over his sleek body. The need to feel him seized Randi and she closed her
eyes. Every waking moment was filled with thoughts about him.

“All I want is to make love to you,” she
murmured.

He lifted his head, glancing sideways at
her from beneath the spray. He pushed the wet strands of hair from his face and
smiled.

“Making love to you is all I live for,” he
said and stretched out his hand. Her legs wobbled under her as her bare feet
slapped the tile floor. She tugged the nightshirt over her head. She locked
onto his stare and her heart stopped beating for a split second. She felt she’d
cream into a puddle of need at his feet and dropped the nightshirt to the floor
just as she stepped into the shower with him. She gasped as the water splashed
over her face.

Strong arms surrounded her and she slipped
against his soapy body. William lowered his head and pressed a long kiss into
the hollow of her neck. Goosebumps cascaded over her when he sucked the tender
skin between his lips.

“I can’t get enough of you, William.” She
ran her hands down his arms. Her pulse quickened as she lathered the soap over
his skin. The sensation of his muscled body soapy and wet underneath her touch
set her body on fire.

She drew the soap down his chest while the
fine spray splashed against her cheeks. The soap bar slipped from her grasp and
bounced into the center of the bathroom. He chuckled and she ran her hands
across the sharply defined planes of his torso.

“Randi. I want to make love to you now.”
His voice, deep and full of emotion, sent a wave of heat over her.

She cradled the side of his face with her
hand and stood on tiptoes to receive his kiss. Her lips slid against his wet
ones as the water fell over them. He tasted good and she opened her mouth to
his.

Steam rose around them. Her breasts slid
over his soapy chest as their bodies entwined under the shower’s spray. Water
drenched her hair and ran in rivulets down her back. It was like being
underneath a waterfall. Warm and tingling…slick and soapy. She writhed against him,
raising one leg to his waist, and gasped when he lifted her from the floor,
drawing both legs around him.

Fiery sensations lashed every nerve ending
when he pressed her back against the glass wall. She tensed against the
coldness. He guided himself into her and all her worries fell away, leaving
only one thought—William. Her heart tugged with a bittersweet feeling. Tears
filled her eyes. She was grateful the water masked the emotions ravaging her.

William’s cock teased her opening and he
thrust it inside her, pulling her against him. He moved in and out, hard and
fast, while supporting them with his legs braced apart. His breath came in deep
grunts, echoing in the tile shower stall.

“My William,” she said and sucked on his
earlobe as he pumped his cock into her. Clasping her hands, he pulled her arms
above her head, pinned to the wall as he fucked her harder.

Fire consumed Randi. Every tender spot
tingled with the raw need to reach that glorious point of hot release. She
cried out as the coiled energy sprang from her groin and blazed up her spine.
He followed, releasing a groan between clenched teeth as he came. Randi draped
her arms over his shoulders, gasping and kissing his neck, his cheek and
finally his lips.

Randi rose from the bed, unable to
sleep—too exhausted. She had to be the most sexually satisfied woman on the
planet. So why couldn’t she sleep? How could she leave those arms that held her
so snuggly? She glanced back at William then closed the door, suddenly
overwhelmed with sadness. Bitter tears burned her eyes. How easily she’d
forgotten over the past weeks…how quickly she’d been reminded by Ellen’s call.
William was not a real man. William didn’t really like the same things she did.
That was just a program she’d designed to interact with her personality. Oh
sure, he had conscious thought, but even her data proved he was still governed
by technology.

Her happiness shattered and emptiness
rushed in. They had no real relationship. They had some rather shallow
conversations, but he was just a very advanced machine she could turn off any
time she wanted. It was easy. She could end his sleeping mode right now and
shut him down completely. The thought only compounded despair. Tears streamed
down her cheeks.

It was as if William, the man she was
falling in love with, had suddenly died. Love? God, when had she fallen in love
with him? Randi ran her hand through her hair and sat down on the couch. Her
mind was a whirl of thoughts. She knew what William was and yet emotionally she
didn’t care. But she’d been forced to care by Ellen’s phone call.

How could she sit by while Ellen indulged
in a demonstration of William’s adept lovemaking? She swiped the tears from her
eyes and sniffed. Ellen was anxious and concerned, but once she met William,
her boss would be ecstatic. The thought of William fucking Ellen made her shake
with anger. Rage burst open and her hands tightened into hard fists.

“I’m so screwed,” she whispered and rubbed
her burning eyes. “I have to stay focused on the project. That’s what I must
do. He isn’t real. It’s all fantasy. William is a sex replacement, nothing
more.” Even as she spoke the words, Randi’s heart rejected them.

She sat up the rest of the night trying to
convince herself that the soul she occasionally glimpsed in his eyes was
nothing more than her brilliant programming. Instead of reassuring, the thought
crushed her spirit. Randi sat with her legs bent, resting her chin on her
knees. How had she become so attached to him? She gnawed on her lower lip,
sucking it in and out of her mouth.

She heard him moving about in the bedroom.
Trembling, she brushed the tears from her cheeks and lowered her legs, clicking
on the holograph magazine so that when he entered the den, she appeared to be
reading.

“What’s wrong?” He raked his hand through
his hair, looking down at her through sleepy eyes.

Her heart throbbed at the way he squinted
against the lamplight, appearing so human. She glanced away, realizing she’d
not programmed him to wear clothes, and made a mental note to add it to the
next download.

“Are you sick?” he asked with concern
shining in his eyes.

“Too much sex.” She forced a smile. “Great
sex, but I’m not used to any of this—”

He planted his hands on his hips. Even his
six-pack was like the pictures in the museum. Well, of course it was, she’d
patterned him after those photos and programmed the nanites, yet she wondered
how much was the result of DNA.

“What’s worrying you? That I work too well?
Do you still think of me as nothing more than a robot? Is that it?”

“William…” She reached out and clasped his
hand. “You’re so much more than a sex replacement to me.”

“Yeah, baby, I am.” He sat down beside her
and she moved to sit on his lap. “Why is that a problem?” He pressed a kiss
onto her forehead and she bowed her head.

“Even though you’re all those things, you
still aren’t…human,” she murmured.

“Randi, why do you think I have to be human
to be more than a machine?”

She shook her head.

“Maybe I’m more human than you know,” he
whispered in her ear.

Randi called in sick that morning. A heavy
weight seemed to churn in the pit of her stomach. She needed more time with
William to sort out her feelings before the demonstration with Ellen. Somehow
she must regain her perspective as a scientist first.

It was late morning when William knocked on
the office door and entered with a tray of coffee and hot pastries.

“Break time,” he announced and set the tray
on the desk in front of her. The aroma of freshly ground coffee quickened her
hunger pangs.

“How thoughtful.”

“What exactly are you working on?” He
handed her the coffee mug and set the plate in front of her. “Danish with
melted butter, just the way you like.”

“You’re the perfect companion, William.”

“And so I should be, my love. We couldn’t
be better matched had you programmed me,” he smiled at his joke, standing in
front of her dressed in lounge pants and no shirt.

Her pulse quickened. Every cell in her body
seemed to zing alert whenever near him. She started to comment that she had in
fact programmed him to be her perfect match when the house computer interrupted
them.

“You have a call from Ellen.”

“I’ll receive it.” She motioned for William
to leave the room. Reluctantly, he turned and closed the door behind him.

“I’ll take the call in my lab,” she said
and grabbed the lab coat, pulling it over her as she hurried from the room and
down the hall to the lab.

“Computer, answer the call,” she said,
slamming the heavy door behind her, but it jarred open. The lights flickered on
and she sat down on the stool.

“Randi?” Ellen’s image flashed in front of
her. Ellen was wearing a blue business tunic.

Randi clicked the transmit button allowing
Ellen to see her. Her boss’s tense expression relaxed.
