Unfinished Business (30 page)

Alex breathed in deeply as he slowly unzipped Christy’s gown. Desire that had been fueled by watching her dance downstairs, as well as by three months of abstinence, began taking over every part of his body. He needed her. He wanted her.

Now.

He turned her into his arms, wanting her to see his eyes, read what was in them. Wordlessly they stood staring at each other; then he knew the exact moment the meaning of what she saw in his gaze became clear.

“We aren’t going back downstairs to get showered with rice as we leave for the airport, are we?” she asked softly, holding his gaze.

“No,” he said quietly as a fever of deep anticipation flamed through his body. “At least not for a while. When it becomes evident that we won’t be coming back down any time soon everyone will get the picture,” he said quietly as he pushed the bodice of her gown almost down to her waist, exposing her breasts. “They can continue to celebrate without us for a while.”

Christy nodded. Everyone would know what they were up here doing, but she didn’t have a problem with that. “Our plane is scheduled to take off in a few hours.”

Alex smiled. “I’ll call the airport to let them know our flight out will be delayed.”

He felt her tremble as he began caressing her bare shoulders and his gaze moved lower to her lush breasts. The sight of her firm and taut breasts did more than stoke his passion. It sent a fire blazing through him, especially when she wiggled out of the rest of her gown, leaving her practically bare to his eyes. The only thing that covered her below the waist was a white silk thong.

He leaned forward and licked a path from her collarbone all the way down to her breasts. Then tenderly cupping her breast in his hand, he lowered his head for his mouth to cover the hardened brown tip. He heard her murmur his name, and the sound made the deep compelling need within him increase.

Deciding her torture was his own, he released her and took a step back to remove his shirt. When his hand went to the buckle of his belt, she walked over to him and said, “Let me.”

He inhaled deeply as she undid his belt with smooth, gentle hands. And when she began easing down his zipper he felt his strength dissolve and knew he had to take over or he would definitely lose it. He gathered her up in his arms and placed her back on the bed. After removing his pants and briefs he joined her in bed, whispered her name as he pulled her to him to remove her thong.

Christy’s heart was pounding wildly in her chest and an intoxicating weakness was melting her bones. He moved his body over hers and leaned in to kiss her. It was a kiss that further stoked their passion, escalated their desire, and made their bodies a mass of quivering flesh. Her tongue mated with his voraciously, stroke for stroke, and Christy traced the heavy muscles of his body with her fingertips, needing to touch him any way she could.

He pulled back and met her gaze. “I love you.”

She struggled to catch her breath and whispered, “And I love you, too.”

When he moved his body to rest between her thighs their gazes held as he slowly entered her. “Three months was a long time without you,” he moaned, gritting his teeth against the overwhelming emotion he felt, being back inside of her again after so long. And when she tightened her inner muscles to hold him within her, he threw back his head and let out a deep masculine growl of pleasure.

Then he began moving, his strokes long and hard, making love to the woman he loved, his wife, his life. He leaned down and began kissing her mouth over and over again, taking her bottom lip into his to suck on it while his body continued to move back and forth, in and out of hers. He continued the process, prolonged the torture, taking them to the brink of pleasure time and time again, stoking the passion between them that kept building and building.

And then when they couldn’t take any more, he felt it—the heat, the fire, the flames. She screamed his name as a shudder ran through her, and he quickly followed, groaning out as an explosion of gigantic proportions went off inside of him. His arms tightened around her hips and held her to him as he spilled inside of her.

But he didn’t stop there.

Over and over again, he stoked her fire and then fed her the pleasure they both needed. It was if they were making up for lost time. He loved the sound of the moans being wrenched from her lips as they satisfied their unending needs.

A very long time later, he pulled her into his arms while lying beside her, sighing contentedly.

“Alex?”

He didn’t think he had the strength to lift his head, so he merely answered her, “Yes?”

“I definitely like the way you move.”

A smile touched Alex’s lips.
“Thank you, sweetheart.”

Then moments later she asked, “Is there still unfinished business between us?”

He pulled her closer into his arms. “Our business is finished, but a new phase in our life is just beginning.”

She leaned up and kissed the pulse at the base of his throat, then lifted her head to stare down at him. “And what phase is that?”

“The phase that’s called now until forever,” he said, gently combing his hands through her tousled hair.

A smile touched her lips as she gazed down at him. “Now until forever. I like that.”

And then she eagerly proceeded to show him just how much.

Dear Readers:

When I introduced Christy Madaris in my very first book,
Tonight and Forever
, I knew her story would be a very special book. She was the sixteen-year-old baby sister of three very wonderful but intense men who were not ready for her to grow up.

Over the years you have seen her mature and you know that one thing has remained constant—her love for Alex Maxwell. Falling in love at a young age is a beautiful thing. I know because I fell in love with my husband when I was fourteen. However, Christy soon discovered that having Alex reciprocate that love was not going to be easy because there were too many obstacles that stood in her way; more specifically, her brothers and Mr. Maxwell himself.

I hope you enjoyed Christy’s and Alex’s story in
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
, and getting the chance to revisit with some of the characters from my earlier books in the Madaris Family and Friends Series.

There are more Madarises out there—Blade, Slade and Lucas—just to name a few, and I look forward to sharing their stories with you.

I love writing connecting books. Individually, every book I write will be a totally satisfying love story. And together, the entire collection of my books in this series will create a compelling saga of one family’s love and deep devotion, which will extend to their friends as well. I hope they will be stories you will enjoy and cherish forever.
