Voyages of the Solar Wind 1: A Fire in Heaven (22 page)

"I'M COMING RILAR!" I shouted and unloaded a torrent into her, slamming my hips forward and thrusting harder into her than before. I came like a machine gun inside my wife that day, harder than ever before. Our slow tender lovemaking taking on new meaning for us that day. It wasn't so much that we were married under Confederate Law as it was that the ceremony itself had solidified, for me at least, that we were indeed husband and wife.

I collapsed on top of her, her hands coming up and stroking my hair and neck. My face was buried in her neck, our bodies molded together with the sweat of our lovemaking. I throbbed inside her, not going soft yet as I slowly moved in and out of her. Her legs were still wrapped tightly behind my lower back, and she was whispering to me in Gurinkan and purring as our mutual climaxes finally abated.

"What are you saying, kitten?" I asked in a whisper. I really needed to learn Gurinkan!

"I was saying that I have never felt as complete as I do at this moment, sek'natha." She whispered sweetly and kissed my neck. Her purring was like music to my ears. She soothed me and excited me all at the same time.

"I could say the same, sweetheart." I moaned and lifted my head a bit to kiss her. Our lips touched and opened, accepting our tongues in a tender sensuous kiss. "I love you more than anything, Ri."

"I love you more than anything too, Dex." She smiled her beautiful smile, her lips seeking mine again as we found completion in each other's arms.

It had been a rollercoaster ride so far, and it was far from over. After we awoke from our nap after more lovemaking, we dressed and decided to walk to her parents' house. We dressed casually, with Rilar in just a tanktop and shorts with some sandals, and me in long shorts, t-shirt, and running shoes.

We walked hand in hand down the street towards the beach, and stole kisses whenever the mood took us. I had never felt so happy and content in my entire life, and that's saying something. We talked as we got to her parents' street and turned towards the house.

"So how long should we stay for our Honeymoon, Honey?" I asked as she slipped her arm around my waist and mine went around hers. Her tall 5'9" frame is only a few inches shorter than my powerful build, and my sixpack abs were back in full force finally. It's a wonder what that much athletic sex will do for you.

"Two weeks sound good, Dex?" Ri asked.

"Sounds perfect to me, darlin'." I replied, kissing her sweetly. We were drawing appreciative and disgusted looks again, but I still didn't care. We were filthy rich now, and man, did it feel good! We'd made our fortune in a little over two years, and it just felt great! That didn't mean we were going to settle down quite yet, though.

"Then we get back out there and do a little more sight-seeing!" Rilar grinned.

"Piggyback ride?" I asked and held my arms out a bit as she got a mischievous look on her face. She jumped on my back and I carried her down the street at a jog, our laughter ringing out as we made our way finally up to the house. I set her down as we went inside.

"Hi, all!" Rilar shouted as we came in. To my surprise, Mom was there talking with the in-laws, and they all looked at us and smiled widely.

"What? Never saw a married couple before?" I asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Oh, you haven't heard yet." Mom said with a smile.

"Heard what, mom?" I asked with a suspicious look on my face. I'd seen that smile from mom before.

The General answered first. "Naval Surplus Auction, son. It seems the old Galahad class Frigates are being auctioned off, and one of the hulls up on the block is going to be the Lu Bu."

My eyes went wide and a grin showly split my face. I turned to Rilar, whose expression mirrored mine.

"When is it?" I asked as Rilar jumped into my arms.

"In two weeks on Alpha Centauri IV." Mom said with a warm smile.

"We're going, Dex! We're going to get our old ship back!"

The rest of our Honeymoon was made even more special by the news. We did a lot of shopping at the stores, and I bought more beer to restock our ship. Rilar bought some slinky dresses and other clothes, and some new weapons for her personal collection. Our days were filled with shopping, surfing, and swimming in the warm waters of the Gorobal Ocean. Our nights were filled with even more passionate lovemaking.

On our second to last day, we called Rick and Jeka to make sure they'd heard about the upcoming auction.

"So yeah, all the old Galahads are being auctioned off day after tomorrow at the Confederate Navy Drydock on Alpha Centauri IV. Rilar and me are going to pick up the Lu Bu, or at least bid on it. Since the Zhao Yun is going to be there, we were wondering if you guys would be interested." I said over my comm to our best friends.

"Are you kidding?!?!" Jeka shrieked and giggled. "Lords of Darkness, I want to fly my old baby again!"

"As long as we can get some good guns for it, I'm down to go at least have a look-see." Rick volunteered.

"Oh, I already have plans for what guns I'm gonna put on the Lu Bu!" Rilar chimed in and hugged me tight from behind. That's my baby. A Master's Degree in Propulsion and Power Systems Engineering from the Academy and Correspondence courses with 3-D models for practice.

"Then we'll be able to visit with Harrana out in the Badlands." I said with a grin. The lawless parts of the Western arm of the Milky Way were rich in mineral resources, precious metals, and other adventures to be had. If we had Harrana helping us out over there, we could live a bit of the Pirate's life.

"Now THAT sounds like a great idea!" Rick enthused, then we heard an audible smack as Jeka must have hit him upside the head.

"No, Rick! Unless you want momma to bleed you dry! NO MORE PIRATING FOR YOU!" Jeka scolded her man.

"Fine, fine. A guy can dream, though." Rick said.

We heard Jeka sigh. "Honey, please. The last time you went a'pirating, I nearly lost you. I don't want to lose you again."

"Ok, this is a private convo between you guys. We'll catch you later. Dex and Ri, out." I cut the comm.

Rilar smiled and held me tighter. "I can kind of understand where she's coming from, baby. I don't want to lose you either."

"With my piloting skills and you as my Gunner, you won't lose me, Ri." I reassured her and turned my head back to kiss her. "My beautiful wife." I sighed as we broke the kiss.

"My handsome hubby." She giggled and kissed me again.

And yeah, we found that our sweetness towards each other quickly wore on Shilar's nerves, and she rolled her eyes whenever she saw us making eyes at each other or making out. We knew it was just jealousy, and so did she.

We bought our own place a few houses down from Rilar's folks, and decided to move at least some of our things in. We put some changes of clothes in the dressers and closets, some weapons in a new weapons safe in the Master Bedroom, and bought all new furniture for the place. Our last day was spent moving in, which didn't take long, and then getting ready to go.

When we got to the spaceport, we met Rick and Jeka there. They were both excited about getting their hands on their old ship as much as Ri and me were about getting the Lu Bu back. Seven years flying the same ship is going to cause attachments to said machine, and such was the case with our old Galahads that had survived The Battle of Harad's Reach and others. It was something that the Confederacy was going to auction them off, and I wondered why for a moment before figuring that it wouldn't be nice to look a gifthorse in the mouth.

"Could you guys give us a lift to AC IV?" Rick asked.

"Sure. You can have the spare quarters. It's about a 12 hour flight through the slipstream, though." I shrugged, and they agreed that it would be fun, and just like old times.

Once we were all aboard and Rick and Jeka got settled in, I lifted off and we entered the slipstream as soon as we broke atmo.

Rilar and I were in the galley when Rick and Jeka joined us. We sat down and ate some dinner, and I pulled out the beers. We drank and reaffirmed our old friendships from years past. It felt good to be in the company of our friends again.

"What are you guys gonna do with the Zhao Yun?" I asked.

"Not sure yet, but I'm sure Rick here will think of something." Jeka elbowed her husband in the gut, and he gave her the eyebrow.

"Not sure yet either, but I WILL think of something at least quasi-legal." He winked at us and grinned. "What are you going to do with the Lu Bu?"

"Like I said, maybe go looking for adventure in the Badlands. Not sure, though. I heard Humanity Prime is starting to move in out there." I shrugged. Rick and Jeka knew how bad Humanity Prime was, and they weren't about to say anything about my intentions to give the specist bastards some righteous hell.

"Yeah, Harrana will probably want in on that." Rick nodded. "If you guys need a hand, let me know. I can't speak for Jeka here..."

Jeka elbowed him again. "What Rick means is if you guys need us, we're there. I would bleed every one of those specist shits if it meant making the galaxy a better place."

"Exactly what my beautiful wife just said." Rick grinned. He looked at Jeka. "Never gonna give you up!"

We clinked our bottles and drank our beer.
