She was a precocious child, always asking questions and getting into things. She briefly looked up and watched a few seconds of Madre’s. She pointed at the TV and smiled when Eli appeared. “Daddy!” She turned to her mother.

That’s right,” Simone got up from the kitchen table and joined her daughter on the living room floor. “That’s Daddy.”

Am I going to see Daddy again, Mommy?” Elena asked.

Hmm…” Simone rocked back and forth on the floor. “…well, that depends. Do you want to see Daddy?” Elena quickly nodded. “Well, how about this? We’ll see if Daddy wants to come here and maybe bring your brothers? You like that idea?”

Could we go there?” Elena pointed to the screen.

“
Well, we could,” Simone thought about the firestorm awaiting her if she showed up with Elena at Madre’s after all this time. Not only would Eli’s reputation be ruined but so would hers. She’d spent the past several years rebuilding and rebranding SHE, making her the leading event-planning in all of Houston and commanding a six-figure income. Eli and Nicola were not going to take that away from her. “But I think it’ll be better if Daddy came here.”

And this is where the magic happens,” Eli introduced the warehouse to the cameras, “this is where we create all of the designs right here. As you can see, it’s pretty big, about twenty thousand square feet. We have anywhere between two to three hundred events every month. From weddings to anniversary celebrations to corporate gatherings to television network parties, we do it all right here.”

“
And cut!” The director yelled. “That’s good. We need to get some shots of you working with another client. Do you think we can get a frazzled one coming in today?”

“
Today?” Joey smirked. “Try any hour.”

The reputation of Madre’s grew so large the family snagged their own reality show, aptly titled,
Madre’s
. The show was proven to be a runaway success, with many female viewers tuning in to see the hottest brother duo on television. Joey and Eli had earned at least two magazine covers so far with many more pending. The TV show also brought more attention to the other brothers, boosting Kieran’s and Tiana’s clothing line and raising Nick’s profile at the university. Tony parlayed his brother’s popularity into expanding his barber shop into two stores.

“
Can we shoot tomorrow?” Eli glanced down at his watch. “I need to pick up the little men from school and day care.”

“
Yeah and I need to go home to my girl.” Joey added. “She gets feisty when I don’t come home with food.”

“
Well, she is pregnant.” Eli smiled.

“
And she will not let me forget it.” Joey said, exasperated.

“
Yeah, yeah, not a problem.” The director signaled to his crew to wrap up filming for the day. “We’ll pick up where we left off. Take care, Eli.”

“
See y’all tomorrow.” He left the store. He got into his truck and made the daily excursion to pick up Nathan from elementary school and Eli, Jr., from day care. On the way home, he always asked Nathan how his day was and what he had learned in school before they went home and he started on his homework.

“
And there are my boys,” Faith greeted her sons as they rushed to her. She kissed her husband hello. “How was the shoot today, honey?”

“
No drama today,” Eli shrugged, “but whatever didn’t happen today will be made up for tomorrow.”

“
As always,” Faith smiled.

“
As always.” Eli smiled back. “Is the princess asleep?”

“
Finally.” Faith yawned. “It was a loooooong day for the both of us.”

“
I’ll take over, baby girl,” Eli headed towards the nursery, “you relax now.”

Faith lay down on the couch. “I’m about to…”

Eli made a bee-line to the master bedroom and saw his three-month old daughter, Abriana, sleeping peacefully in her bassinet. He gently touched her head and smiled. “Hey, princess. Daddy’s home. I heard you kept Mommy awake all day. Well, it’s a good thing Mommy only works part-time now, huh? She doesn’t have to be in the shop as much anymore.” He then left the bedroom and made his way to the kitchen, where his sons were already doing their homework.

“
Baby girl, what do you want for dinner tonight?” Eli opened the refrigerator and perused it. “Baby girl? Faye?” He closed the door and walked into the living room. Faith was sleeping peacefully on the couch.

“
Mom’s knocked out, Dad!” Nathan giggled along with Eli, Jr.

“
Yeah, she’s had a rough day with your sister,” Eli got out a blanket and covered Faith with it. “Let’s have her rest. We got to put on our quiet voices now, okay?”

“
Okay!” The boys whispered.

Eli kissed his wife’s forehead and stared at her for a brief moment before he started to make dinner for his family. Everything he had ever wanted was right before him. She was with him at his best and stuck by his side when he went through his worst. He knew where he wanted to be and had no desire to go anywhere else.
