“I mean, I don’t think I can I can share you with other women.”

I shrugged. “You don’t have to. I’m done. I hadn’t planned on taking on any new clients.”

“Really?”

“Really.”

She smiled contentedly as she turned over and wrapped her leg around me. “Ryan, I need to ask you something, but you have to promise you won’t think I’m not totally satisfied with what just happened.”

“Sure babe, what?”

“Can we go on a date?”

Epilogue

Natalie

It’s been a few weeks since the night of Ryan’s graduation. We’re taking it slowly, although our definition of slow is probably different than most people’s. It’s kind of funny, our relationship started in such an unusual way, that now getting to know each other’s quirks and philosophies on life, well, it almost feels more intimate than sex.

But don’t worry, I’ve been spending most nights with Ryan, and the sex is still amazing. Since graduating, he’s wasted no time in setting up his new practice. Part of me was nervous, he’d been doing surrogate work for so long, I wasn’t sure if he’d be able to just drop it and walk away, but he explained that it was always part of the plan.

His plan.

I like being part of his plan. His imperfect, fucked up family was, and still is, family at the end of the day. Ainsley is doing better, but we’re taking it one day at a time. Her doctor switched her meds, and it seems like the new one is working. I’m thankful for that, because she really is a wonderful girl.

At work, I thought things were finally settling down, but Cathy announced last week that she was leaving Heaven Sent to head up a new sportswear company in New York. I’m interviewing for her position next week.

And next to Ryan Andrews, that’s the only thing on my to-do list.
