Wicked Thing (C.O.A Series Book 2) (38 page)

Kayn nudged her and teased, “Grey’s staring at you.”

Lexy turned to look at him again and her heart skipped a beat. Grey was in a similar state, and far too drunk to filter his appreciative response as his eyes followed her long toned legs up to her slinky barely there, silky little dress. Their eyes locked and it was like there was nobody else in the room. She looked away from him as her heart tried to convince her to ignore the repercussions, and be with him.
They wouldn’t be sharing a room tonight.
Her throat was dry so she took a drink.
She just had to stay away from him. That was all she had to do, but that had always been easier said than done.
Lexy stared into her glass and vocalized her brains argument, “I promised myself I wasn’t going to backslide with him, not anymore.”

Kayn nodded and said, “Understandable.” She took another sip of her drink and added, “How did movie night go with Orin? I totally forgot to ask you about that.”

Lexy tried to hide her reaction to her fellow Dragon’s random, yet brilliantly timed question.
That night was their little secret
. “It’s Orin. He’s trying to move on, but he’s still in love with Jenna. We hung out. Nothing happened,” Lexy replied as she took another casual sip of her drink and slyly glanced over at Grey. Her cell buzzed and she knew it was from him. The message read, ‘
You are by far the sexiest girl in this room
.’ She stared at his text and smiled.

Kayn elbowed her. Lexy turned to see what she was warning her about and said, “Shit.”
He was coming to her and he looked sexy as hell tonight.

Grey approached the bar, slid up beside her, leaned over and seductively whispered in her ear, “Looking good, Lex.”

Lily slowly shook her head and chuckled, “Here we go again.”

“I think we should dance. You’ve been sitting here long enough,” Grey flirted. He stood up, strolled around behind Lexy, and spun her bar stool around to face him. He gave her a roguish grin as he tried to kiss her on the cheek.

Be strong, be strong.
Lexy playfully batted him away and sparred, “I’m not into dancing tonight. Go and dance with someone from the ever expanding harem of hussies over there. Surely, one of them has to be interested in you.”

He cupped one of her cheeks, ran one of her sexy ringlets between two of his fingers and whispered, “Come on, Lex. You know you want to.”

He wasn’t helping her out as the desire to be with him heated the part of her she was trying to ignore.
Lexy crossed her legs even tighter and bit her lip. “I don’t want to…dance,” she sighed.

He kept smiling at her, pouting and giving her puppy dog eyes until she cracked and agreed to dance with him, “Alright.”
One dance and then she’d make an excuse and take off.

Grey grinned, tugged her to her feet and towed her out on to the dance floor while comically scolding, “You always end up saying yes, why fight it?”

He was talking about dancing but he’d kind of hit the nail directly on the head there
. They started to dance. After two or three songs, Lexy hollered over the music, “Let’s go and sit down for a while.” An older song came on that they both used to love to dance to and he gave her a playful tug towards him and she ended up in Grey’s arms as he started to grind against her.
She was seriously turned on.
With every gyration of his hips the resolve to behave tonight slipped further away.
This would be so much better if they were both naked.

Grey sang the naughty lyrics to the song in her ear with his hilarious falsetto that he reserved for occasions where he was trying to make her laugh, “I am, getting so hot, I wanna take my clothes off.”

It occurred to her in that moment that he was just being Grey and she was the one that was reading too much into everything. He wasn’t really hitting on her. It was just the ambiance of the club and the fact that lately she’d been turned on by a warm breeze on a cool day.
By the time the song neared its end she was having so much fun that she’d forgotten all about the reasons why she shouldn’t be dancing with him. They were both laughing when the song stopped and his lips were poised mere inches from hers. Lexy was having the best time and for a second her heart lost its filter as she moved towards him and kissed him tenderly on the lips. There was a shocked expression on his face as their lips parted.
What had she done?
She tried to pull away so she could think straight.

Grey held her there and whispered, “Stay,” while searching her eyes for an answer.
She’d never been able to deny him when they were in this moment.
Lexy slowly nodded her consent and without hesitation his lips moved towards her as he kissed her back, this time without there being any mistake in what his intentions were as he stroked his skilled tongue seductively across hers in that way that had always made her loins catch fire with desire until she was squirming with need, reality vanished and the excuses about why they shouldn’t be together meant nothing, while lost in the reckless abandon of their over active immortal libidos. When their lips finally parted it was as though it had taken everything each of them had to pull away from each other. Lexy bit her kiss swollen bottom lip, she couldn’t look into his eyes because if she did, she would be lost in them and she wouldn’t have the strength to walk away.
She had to stop doing this to herself but she couldn’t seem to stop herself from doing it.
The realization hit her that, it was her.
She’d started this…It had always been her.
“I’m sorry, I’m not sure what I was thinking,” Lexy explained as she backed away from him.
She had to get away and clear her head.
Lexy turned around and forced her way through the crowd leaving him standing there on the dance floor.
She needed to escape the noise of the club, but that was only an excuse. It was herself she needed an escape from.
Lexy shoved open the fire escape and stepped out of the seductive red lighting and into the fresh air. She quickly scaled the steps, knowing he was sure to be right behind her.
He wouldn’t allow her to walk away from this, he’d want her to talk about it and she couldn’t, not yet.
She reached the top of the stairs and tried to disappear into the flow of the crowd. For a couple of minutes, she thought she’d managed to lose him but realized how ridiculous she was being so Lexy decided to stop hiding. She stood still in front of the fenced off area as everyone passed by her and listened to the trickling sound of the water from the fountain.

Grey’s voice queried, “Why would you take off, and leave me standing there like an idiot? We’re adults Lexy. Doesn’t it make more sense to talk it out?”

She turned to look at him and replied, “You’re right, I’m sorry I took off. I just needed to put some space between us.” They kept up the pretense of watching the water show.

He grinned and explained, “This isn’t just on you. That second kiss was all me.”

Oh, the ego.
Lexy smiled as she rolled her eyes and teased, “Right, it was all you.”

He gave her a light-heartedly playful nudge and chuckled, “You know, that’s not what I meant. I meant, I kissed you the second time even though I had agreed to stop myself from doing it. I just wasn’t expecting that powerful flood of emotions that I had when you kissed me. I needed to know. I’m sorry.”

“So, what do we do now?” she sighed while continuing to watch the mesmerizing display of water.

They were standing side by side now with their arms and shoulders almost touching and their connection had only been enhanced by the exhilarating experience they’d just shared. Grey kept his gaze fixed straight ahead while he reversed her question, “What do you want to do?”

Lexy saw no point in further pretense as she gave him the most honest true answer she had within her, “I want us to love each other without any boundaries. I want to wake up in the morning in your arms and know you remember every last detail of the night before but that’s not going to happen.”

Grey stared into her eyes as he whispered, “I want to take you up to my room and make love to you all night. I would give anything to do that. Have you tried to talk to Jenna about this stupid clause in the Handler Dragon relationship? Maybe if we speak to them together? We should be allowed to be happy too, shouldn’t we?”

Lexy laced her fingers through his, and squeezed his hand as she gave him her response, “Of course I’ve tried to speak to them about this, but the reason we can’t be together is more complicated than that and it was a clear no.”
This had backfired. He’d come back to her completely even though they hadn’t yet consummated the situation. The only difference this time would be that he would hurt too. He would long to be with her too and she loved him too much to allow him to remain in this state.

She looked at him and whispered, “We should do this. We should be together tonight. You’ll wake up tomorrow morning and you’ll be fine.”

“And you’ll grow to resent me for it,” he replied as he placed his arm around her.

This was the truth she’d been there, and recently
. She rested her head on his shoulder and said, “Tell me, what the alternative is?”

“We get through this together. I’ll try to control my jealousy while you move on and you do the same. We just have to love each other enough to let go,” Grey replied as he gave her a loving squeeze.

They left the deep end of their conversation at that and decided that they would just enjoy the night together. They spent hours sight-seeing while wandering around the city that never sleeps hand in hand as they normally would and on several occasions the intimacy of the something more they were both trying to conceal slipped through in the form of an intimate touch or a lingering gaze. They ended up at an amusement park where they acted like two teenagers in love as they went on every wild ride and by midnight they were in the elevator with every intention of going back to their separate rooms.

When the other passengers got off at their floor and they were left alone in the elevator, Grey backed her up against the mirrored wall and said, “Come back to my room, I hate sleeping without you and there’s plenty of things we can do without even taking our clothes off. We’ll start behaving ourselves tomorrow.”

She had no argument for that logic as the door opened and they dashed down the hall hand in hand towards his room. While Grey was fumbling to slide the card in the door, she kissed him on the neck and he dropped the card on the floor. Lexy knelt down and passed it to him and while still on her knees, she gazed up at him and motioned like she was about to reach for his zipper. Instead of actually doing it she stood up again and laughed as Grey thrust open the door, and playfully gave her a gentle shove through the threshold. He kissed her as they maneuvered towards the bed together. While nuzzling her neck he flirtatiously bargained, “How about just our shirts come off… nothing else?”

Lexy was wearing a dress, she’d been in this situation and far too recently to pretend she didn’t know exactly what she was doing as she removed it and crawled seductively up onto the bed in her lacy bra and G-string panties knowing he was watching her. She turned over and sprawled out on the bed, waiting for him. Grey removed only his shirt crawled onto the bed and joined her. She felt his lips as he tenderly kissed each of her ankles. She giggled and fought the urge to kick him in the face because it tickled, then his lips travelled to the sensitive flesh on the underside of her knees, and then to her soft supple thighs. Lexy felt the heat of his breath through her lacy panties, she arched her back and shivered. Lexy clutched the sheets with either hand as he feathered warm sensual kisses through the material. She squirmed beneath him as she yearned for more, knowing this game was going to last all of five seconds before it ceased to be one. He was going to remove her panties and she was going to forget about everything but the desperate aching need to have him inside of her. This had happened so many times. She grabbed a handful of his hair and ordered, “Get up here and kiss me.”

He shot her a deviously naughty look as he trailed kisses up her stomach and then gently nipped the thin lacy material of her bra that concealed her breasts erotically with his teeth causing her nipples to strain against the material as aching peaks. He continued the seductive quest for intimate knowledge of her until their eyes met, obeying her order as his lips parted and their tongues began their torrid steamy dance of submission, she undid his zipper and slid her hand inside, he groaned against her lips, but couldn’t bring himself to stop her because she knew exactly what he wanted her to do. He gasped again as she took him closer to the edge with the perfectly rehearsed sliding of her palm. He hooked his finger around her lacy panties with the intention of returning the favor but she removed his rock hard manhood from his jeans and positioned him against the moist warmth of her and pleaded in his ear, “Please, Grey.”

There was a loud knock on the door.
No, no, no.

Grey leapt out of bed with his rigid manhood raised high like the mast of a ship and peeked only his head through the door. Lexy let out an over dramatic sigh of frustration as she heard Jenna’s voice coming from the other side of the doorway.

Grey closed the door, leaned against it and said, “Well, I’m going to go and have an ice cold shower. She’s waiting out there for you.”

Of course she was
…. Lexy slipped back into her dress and grabbed her high heels in one hand opting to stroll down the carpeted halls barefoot. Greydon still hadn’t moved a muscle when she reached the door. He was still standing there looking like an anatomically impressive nude statue of a Greek god. She gave him a quick peck on the lips and teased, “It’s nice to know that you can’t resist me either.”

Grey grinned at her as he scolded, “Get out of here before I make her stand there and wait, while I drag you into the shower and have my way with you.”

She opened the door and shimmied past her gorgeous naked Grey. Lexy was met with Jenna’s disapproving glare and before the lecture began she sighed, “I know. I know.”

Jenna didn’t bother to say a word as she escorted Lexy back to the elevator. She saw her safely inside and their clan’s Oracle said, “Get some sleep you have to be up in four hours. As the doors closed Jenna shook her head at her and smiled.
